NWAC CHAMPIONSHIP BID INFORMATION

Introduction:

I.  The Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) continues to work towards providing quality championship experiences for our student-athletes. With this purpose in mind, the NWAC office has set up the following process to help ensure that our potential partners understand the seriousness and priority we give to our championships. Over the years, the process for site selection has been varied and it is the intent of the NWAC office to make clear how the process works. Following is language within the NWAC Codebook that speaks to Championship site selection, as well as additional information, to better inform those who wish to provide championship bids

The Process:

II.  The NWAC office will entertain bid offers from institutions within the NWAC as well as from outside agencies such as sports commissions, visitor and convention bureaus, and other non-educational organizations. In recent years it has been common for NWAC institutions and outside agencies to partner successfully on championship bids. Bids can come in the form of one, two, or three year bids with special consideration given to three year bids. Please be advised that some sports bids will be awarded solely on a one year basis.

III.  Role of the Executive Board: Site selection, control, management and sponsorship of all NWAC tournaments and playoffs for entry into NWAC tournaments shall be vested in the Executive Board by the NWAC. Site selection will be based upon the review of submitted proposals from individual member colleges and recommendations from various sports committees. The Executive Board shall have the authority to evaluate tournament bids which extend multiple years and result in a selection which varies from a specific sport rotation. This rule shall supersede any conflicting languages in the Bylaws under specific sports.

IV.  Official championship bid applications are available at www.nwacsports.org. The completed bid form must be returned to the NWAC office by the end of January.

V.  Please be advised that after appropriate review, possible site visits, and discussion with the NWAC Executive Board, a contract shall be offered to the selected host school or other agency based upon the terms and conditions of this bid. It is understood that items in this bid process can be negotiated by the NWAC and the bidders so that both parties are fully aware of the final bid. If you have any questions relative to the completion of this bid, please contact Marco Azurdia, NWAC Executive Director at: or 360-992-2510.
