Hugh Carr of Rathmell in Yorkshire, yeoman, aged about 50, says he knows Robert Somerskales, Henry Somerskales and the parsonage of Giggleswick.

The tenants have paid both before 3 Elizabeth I and since, both to Thomas Sandies and John Smyth.

The lessees and their predecessors, and those whose estate they have claimed, have a customary estate of tenantright. He thinks the leases were not prejudicial to their customary rights.

John Lynley of Yealand in Lancaster, yeoman, aged about 64, knows all the parties and the parsonage of Giggleswick.

He says Mr Francis Tunstall conveyed to Mr George Midleton his lease of Giggleswick, with his indenture of lease to Sir Marmaduke Tunstall, from the Prior and Convent of [?]Duresnie. Frances covenanted with George Midleton that the parsonage and tithes should be discharged and freed from all former transactions. He knows this because he was a witness of the conveyance from Tunstall to Midleton.

John Jackson alias Smyth of Leighton in Lancaster, gent, aged about 50, says that he knows all the parties except Mr Crompton, and the parsonage.

He knows this because he was a witness of the conveyance from Tunstall to Midleton.

He knows that since the conveyance was made from Francis Tunstall to George Midleton the rents have always been paid to Her Majesty’s Receivers, until the feast of the Annunciation of our Lady last past. He always sent the same rents himself and received the acquittances under the Receivers’ hands.
