Primary Objective:
The Burnett Mary Regional Group (BMRG) is looking for a suitably skilled and motivated person to join its newly formed On-Farm and Riparian Recovery Team. The officer willbe required tosupervise riparian restoration projects for the Gayndah / Mundubbera area; and in addition will be required to supervise a work for the dole crew to undertake the works.
Activities may also include engagement and supervision of contractors such as earth movers on site. This position would involve working closely with Burnett Catchment Care Association’s Riparian project officer.
The works will occur on riverbanks and adjacent areas. All works carried out must align to relevant legislation (particularly Workplace Health and Safety) and ensure that minimal environmental damage is inflicted.
Specific Accountabilities:
- To assist with planning the logistics for revegetation works to be undertaken.
- Coordination, supervision and motivation of a small on-ground works team for revegetation projects.
- Coordinate the implementation ofrevegetation works.
- Engagement with land managers, contractors and JSA’s and job seekers.
- Ensure all activities align to legislation, in particular WH&S.
- Compliance with all relevant legislation, work policies, procedures and practices.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
1.Education / Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in managing volunteers, work for the dole participants and working with landholders to complete NRM activities.
- A current C class driver’s license is essential.
- Recognised qualifications in Conservation and Land Management or similar (minimum Certificate III); desirable.
- General knowledge of local native plant species and vegetation communities.
- Good knowledge and identification of weeds.
- Minimum of 2 years on-ground experience in conservation and land management or similar and relevant industry including bush regeneration and revegetation, fencing and supervision of small teams.
- ACDC and chainsaw qualifications desirable.
- Current First Aid.
- Current Queensland manual driver’s licence.
- Practical knowledge of workplace health and safety policies and procedures, risk management practice and principles. In addition, experience in developing Safe Work Methods Statements or similar.
- Ability to operate and maintain vehicles and field equipment.
- Ability to engage long term unemployed work crew, and provide mentoring and motivation.

Selection Criteria
To do this role successfully, it is critical that you demonstrate sound ability, skills, and knowledge in the following areas:
SC1 / Demonstrated ability to manage and supervise a team and ensure work schedules and standards are met and that on-ground works projects are delivered as per site plans and expected timeframes;SC2 / Demonstrated experience in duties such as riparian revegetation, fencing and weed management;
