Directions to the Campus: Leave the A1 at Junction 61 and take the A177 heading towards Bowburn. Follow the A177 for approx. 3 miles. The turn in for the College Campus is the second on the left after the bridge by the Rose Tree Pub (opposite the University Sports Complex). On turning into the college Campus, follow the road round to the left around the main college buildings, past the new farm buildings, keeping on this lane till you reach the Equine Unit.

All classes are open to registered pure bred mountain and moorland ponies

Each class will have special rosettesfor the following:

# Rosettes to the Highest Placed Junior (u18 at 1.1.16)

# Rosettes for each Best of Breed

-Highland BoB Rosettes presented by Highland Pony Enthusiasts Club North East Area

-Fell BoB Rosettes presented by Fell Pony Society North East Support Group

-Dales BoB Rosettes presented by Dales Pony Society Area 2

-Connemara BoB Rosettes presented by the North East Connemara Group

-BoB Rosettes for all other breeds presented by HPEC NE & NE FPS Group

This competition is affiliated to the National Pony Society. Classes 4 and 6 are qualifiers for the NATIONAL PONY SOCIETY SUPREME DRESSAGE CHAMPIONSHIP 2017. The Finals of which will be held at prestigious show venue; Addington Manor Equestrian Centre, Addington, Buckinghamshireon Saturday 8th April 2017.

Membership of the NPS is not required to qualify for the Dressage Finals but you must be a fully paid up Dressage, Full or Life member in order to compete at the final. Ponies must be ridden at the final by the qualifying rider.

The two highest placed ponies from each of the following breeds will qualify for the NPS Dressage Championship 2017: Highland, Fell and Dales. For the remaining eight breeds the two highest placed ponies not exceeding 138cms and the two highest placed ponies exceeding 138cms will qualify. In addition the two highest placed Mini riders (under 12 years on 1st January 2017) and two highest placed junior riders (under 18 years on 1st January 2017) will also qualify.

Those ponies will also be eligible to be chosen to represent their Breed, NPS Area or other team in the Team Challenge which will be incorporated into the 2017 Championship Final.

Class 1 Introductory Walk/Trot Test A (2008)–This class is restricted to combinations not to have been placed

Class 2 Introductory Walk/Trot Test C(2016) - This class is restricted to combinations not to have been placed

1st at Prelim Level prior to 1st January 2017.

Class 3 Introductory Walk/Trot Test B (2009) – This class is open to all.

Class 4Prelim No.7 (2002) - This class is restricted to combinations not to have been placed 1st– 3rd at Prelim Level prior to 1st January 2017.

Class 5Prelim No.1 (2006) - This class is open to all

Class 7NPS Novice No.30

In addition the two highest placed Mini riders (under 12 years on 1st January 2017) and two highest placed junior riders (under 18 years on 1st January 2017) will also qualify.

Class 8Westgate LaboratoriesTeam Challenge

(Free entry to be made on the day before the conclusion of the first class)

Teams of three or four, combinations must be pre-entered into classes 1-7. Riders will ride as individuals with the best three scores counting towards an overall team total. The highest percentage wins the day and the annual trophy. Breed teams are encouraged but mixed teams are also allowed to join in the friendly rivalry between the native breeds.

Rules

1. To be judged under British Dressage Rules except where otherwise stated.

2. All competitors must compete within the correct grading level according to BD rules.

3. Snaffle bits (per British Dressage rule book) to be worn. Gags, Pelhams, Doubles or Wilkies are not permitted.

4. The organisers reserve the right to refuse any entry.

5. Withdrawals as soon as possible please. Before closing date full refund but no refunds will be available after the closing date.Refunds or substitutions cannot be made after the close of entries.

6. No competitor to ride more than two horses per class.

7. Rosettes to 6th place in each section.

8. Any complaints to be submitted, in writing, within 30 minutes of results, with a £30 deposit.

9. Hard hats to current standard and gloves must be worn.

10. Riders Compete at their own risk. The organisers of the event, landowners, judges, officials nor the Highland Pony Enthusiasts Club or the Fell Pony Society accept any liability for any accident, damage, injury or illness to horses, owners, riders, ground spectators, or any other person or property whatsoever

11. All exhibitors and/or competitors must be covered by their own Third Party Insurance.

12. A pony may only compete at two levels e.g. Intro and Prelim but not Intro and Novice.
