Founder and director of nonprofit organization that produces 50+ fitness events annually including road races, training programs for adults and children, triathlons, and duathlons.

In March 2013, Beth & her team staged the largest inaugural 5K in the world to benefit the Sandy Hook School Support Fund. The result was a donation of ½ million dollars. HMF was the largest single donor in the United States to the Sandy Hook Fund.

Recognition

  • Recipient of the National Women’s Running Magazine Trailblazer Award given to a woman who has been a leader and a pioneer in the sport and has served the sport with distinction.
  • Recognized as Connecticut Sports Leader of the Year by the March of Dimes
  • Recipient of the Thomas Shortell Award for outstanding leadership in the sports world
  • Named to CT Women’s Hall of Fame 2007
  • Inducted into the Manchester Sports Hall of Fame in 2012
  • Hartford’s Rising Star by the Metro Hartford Regional Economic Alliance for leadership and community development.
  • In 2013, HMF was awarded for the “best amateur sporting event in the United States” for the Sandy Hook Run for the Families by Sports Travel magazine.

Race Director, Eversource Hartford Marathon

In its 23rd year, the EversourceHartford Marathon hosted14,000 athletes, 65,000 spectators and 2,500 volunteers. Annually, the marathon produces $15 million in economic impact for the region and has raised over $10 millon for charities.

In 2014, the Eversource Hartford Marathon earned Gold Certification from the Council for Responsible Sport, and remains the only certified event in Connecticut.

Created the Taste of Hartford, a food festival which generated revenue in excess of $1 million annually and drew crowds in excess of 125,000.

Created the the Heublein Grand Chefs Festival, which brought world renowned chefs, including Julia Child, Jacques Pepin, Emeril Lagasse, Jon Louis Palladin and many others to Hartford for collaboration with talented local chefs.

In her spare time.....

Beth Shluger runs road races throughout the northeast, has completed 15 marathons, competes regionally in long-distance triathlons and loves traveling the globe on her bicycle. She is married to Superior Judge Kenneth Shluger and together they have raised their two amazing children, David and Olivia.
