Discuss New Location

Kimberly: New location at the Hoagey Room? This may not be a great location if none of the archives people can attend (this was the primary reason for the new location).

Ghost Walk and Retirement Party

Jan and Ruth in attendance to discuss Ghost Walk. Ruth distributed flyers for people to post. Still need volunteers.

Jan: Retirement party for Ruth Stone, John Johnson, Velma Carmichael, and Roger Janelli. This will be a huge party held at The Fields Clubhouse. The office needs volunteers for planning, day-of decorating and set-up, party hosting (sign-up book, food replenishing, etc.), and clean-up. Jan and Clara Henderson to generate a list of duties and to mail. Date: December 2nd. Probably 5:00 pm. Pitch-in dinner. This will replace the end of the semester party.

Ruth: Who is going to AFS? She would like someone who is going to take the scrapbook for retirees up to AFS.

Spring workshop/conference for NELC

Corey Rutz from NELC: Middle Eastern Arts festival in February will feature workshops and lecture/performance by ethnomusicologist Irene Markoff from Toronto. Feb. 9th. Markoff is interested in doing a workshop for the ethnomusicology students. Wants to know what the ethnomusicology students want from this workshop.

Dave: Possibly to make it a lecture geared toward leading ensembles.

ACTION: ESA to type up something to send to NELC to send to her. Contact Corey Rutz, . Deb to send her CV to all members.

Other Professional Development Matters

Deb on Tom Turino: came to Lotus. Deb discussed meeting with the students. He would like to come on a Thursday in February.

Ed: Perhaps a February or spring series on ensemble meeting. We could also include a Living History series to incorporate FSA interests.

Jeana: We could address other types of jobs more generally, such as the public sector, practical aspects of performing folklore. Perhaps even include museums.
Action: Deb to invite Tom Turino to speak on 2/22. Issues of ensemble playing and getting jobs.
