Overview of Department/Division

Central Piedmont Community College’s STEM Division is part of the Learning Unit of the College. Home to Science, Information Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, it is a vibrant and fast-paced division. The CPCC STEM departments provide more than 30 AAS degrees and diploma programs, numerous certificates, and general education courses. There are over 500 full-time and part-time employees in the division.

This position will work closely with the Dean of STEM, as well as the directors within the division to ensure progress across STEM. The divisions this position will be responsible for are information technology and engineering technology.

General Description and Job Duties:

1. Plans, initiates and manages activities of the STEM Divisions

2. Monitors, reports progress, and assist with projects within the STEM Divisions

3. Provides information and support for the design, development, and implementation of new curriculum within the STEM Divisions

4. Develops and administers a budget for the STEM Divisions that includes state funds, self-supporting funds and lab fees

5. Participate in overseeing and coordinating administrative operations for the STEM Divisions

6. Actively engaged in assisting the Division Director in faculty professional development and succession planning

7. Assist students with advising, permissions and grievances as needed

8. Initiate and/or lead ideas and projects that lead to alternative funding such as grants, donations and congressional awards

9. Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in a STEM discipline or a closely related field

Preferred Qualifications:

· At least 3 years of experience in educational leadership

· Master’s degree in Engineering

· Industry experience in manufacturing

· Proven success in grant writing and implementation

· Knowledge of higher education administration

· Excellent written and oral communication skills

· Ability to supervise a diverse workforce
