TITLE: Light Duty ServiceTechnician Apprentice

REPORTS TO: Service Manager

MAIN OBJECTIVE: Continually increase technical skill levels through hands-on and computer training.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • A graduate of a technical college in the automotive repair field with it being a minimum of a one year program.
  • Ability to communication with all levels of the dealership.
  • Professional personal appearance and attitude.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Must have basic mathematical skills (must be able to add, subtract, and work with fractions and percentages).
  • Maintain a valid, insurable driver’s license.
  • Individual must own their own tools/box to complete the variety of repairs.
  • Computer knowledge.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Performs duties that are consistent with skills and abilities.
  • Assist other technicians as needed.
  • Performs work in a safe manner as outlined per the repair orders.
  • Performs work in accordance to dealership and factory standards, in a timely manner.
  • Communicates with the parts department to obtain the parts needed for the repair.
  • Saves and tags all warranty parts needed for factory return.
  • Performs the multi-point inspections. Communicate to Service Advisor of any other safety issues.
  • Documents all work performed as recommended on the repair order.
  • Safely road tests vehicles to verify the repair is complete and complaint has been corrected.
  • Participates in manufacturer sponsored training programs, schools, and events as required.
  • Keeps abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins and information.
  • Reports equipment/tooling defects or malfunctions to the Service Manager instantly.
  • Ensures the customers vehicles are kept clean. Notifies the service Manager immediately of any damage to the vehicles appearance or functionality.
  • Maintains and is accountable for the safe use and proper care of all dealership owned tools, equipment or manuals.
  • Returns all tooling to its proper location.
  • Reports any safety issues immediately to the Service Manager.
  • Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations that affect the truck shops operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc…

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:

  • Attend departmental meetings.
  • Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with all company policies and guidelines as written in our company handbook.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Will spend eight hours or more a day moving throughout the dealership. Will stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle and feel. Will be required to lift up to 75 pounds. Will use hand and power tools and engage in repetitive actions on occasion. The physical demands described here, and throughout this job description, are representative

WORK ENVRIOMENT: Will be exposed to noise, dust, exhaust fumes, and other hazardous and non-hazardous materials. Will encounter slippery floors and other potentially hazardous conditions.
