Under general supervision of the Director of Nursing, the faculty member teaches assigned class loads and serves as faculty advisor according to the rules and procedures of the College. This is a full-time, nine (9) month position.
PRIMARY TASKS:
Develops such class, laboratory, clinical, or preceptor experience activity as necessary for appropriate cognitive and skills developments
Evaluates student performance through processes approved by the Director of Nursing and informs the student accordingly
Obtains and maintains such licenses and/or certifications as may become necessary or appropriate to perform in accordance with accepted standards in the field of academic responsibility
Maintains familiarity with the NCBON the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and the NC Community College System’s standards and requirements.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational and time management skills
Effective written and oral communication skills
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees
Teaches assigned classes and clinical rotations according to MCC Faculty Workload Policy
Utilizes methods of instruction and teaching techniques that are appropriate to the fulfillment of course goals and objectives
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor of Science in Nursing with commitment to obtain Master of Science in Nursing within 3-5 years of employment; one or more years of teaching experience in an academic or clinical setting including patient education;and, two or more yearsof full-time employment as a registered nurse in a clinical nursing practice.
Preferred Qualifications:Teaching experience in the community college system; and Master of Science in Nursing.
License(s) Required:A current, unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina.
