  7. NACA
  8. November 2nd -5th
  9. Northeast Regional Conference in Hartford, CT to develop professional development skills, network opportunities, fresh programming ideas, and entertainment.
  10. Daily Pass $164 per person or $394 per person for the 4 day pass.
  11. I believe that the senators should attend since they are the students planning our programming events and will be active next year as well.
  12. Rhode Island Trip
  13. The students that attended enjoyed it but the weather was not the best. It rained during the day and was freezing at night. 32 Students showed up. A lot cancelled the day before or just did not show up. We should consider creating an event cancellation policy again. Can everyone bring an idea for a cancellation policy to discuss at our next meeting?
  14. Escape Room
  15. ASG team bonding event. What is an escape room? Basically we will have one hour to work through a story based adventure using clues and puzzles. You have 60 min to escape the room. I am looking at Mind Puzzlers in Cromwell because they can have up to 8 people and there are 7 ASG members. It is $22 per person and one of the cheaper options I found.Transportation would not be provided and everyone can either car pool or meet up at the location. Date suggestions? Looking at either a Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Friday October 20th, SaturdayOctober 21st or Sunday October 22nd? Email me your availability.
  16. ASG Shirts
  17. Looking to get ASG T-shirts and polos, hopefully I will have a motion, budget request and quote for next week. It was suggested that we get Tshirts, polos and hoodies but I think that is a little excessive because we would not fund clubs to get three shirts each so we should be setting a good example. If you guys really think we need all three I can get a quote but I do not think it is fiscally responsible.
  18. Fee Increase
  19. Student Fee Budget Review Process. We currently have a student fee of $30 a semester/$60 a year. Last year we tried to get a fee increase of $50 a semester/ $100 a year since we have been spending all of our funds and the move acquired more costs. We also have the lowest student fee out of all of the UConn campuses. We will be trying to get a Fee increase again this year.
  20. Timeline
  21. Prior to 12/1/17: Review Budget Packet at public meeting and sign off by CEO & CFO
  22. 12/8/17: Deadline to review Fee Increase with Committee Chair- if applicable
  23. 1/25/18: Deadline to submit signed petition documents- if requesting fee increase

  28. Open House
  29. UConn Hartford Open House 9am-12pm on Saturday, November 4th, 2017. We are invited to mix and mingle with prospective students. This is an opportunity for us to recruit new members for the future. It is expected that all ASG members attend the Open house. I will forward that email to the club executives.

  20. Senator’s Report
  21. Jennifer
  1. Congratulations to the clubs that have been officiated! I’m so excited to work with you all.
  2. Still working with Dungeons & Dragons group: They’re not really sure what ASG is – debating whether or not they’d like to expand the club (or just keep it to friends). “I told them that if they want to book a room or if they need amenities, they will eventually have to create a constitution and speak to Caitlin.”
  3. Talked to the Drama Club and they will be sending their Constitution in shortly.
  4. Communication System- students I talk to often ask me: “What is ASG?,” “There were elections?,” “What do you even do?,” “Where can I find you?” Students need to know that we’re here for them, and are willing to hear them out, offer our services, and represent them.Suggest idea of using an Online Scheduler (similar to that of the Writing Center) – where people can use their e-mails to book appointments with Senators and other ASG Officers. They can easily sign up or cancel appointments and the ASG members will get e-mail appointments when someone books or cancels an appointment with them (This way we know who to expect). Possibly having a sign-up computer outside our office. Paul: Work with Grace on this.
  5. Suggest creating a method for people to officially RSVP to events: Online system.
  6. The Bushnell & Hartford Symphony Orchestra
  7. Holiday Cirque Spectacular- Acrobat show with live music from the Hartford Symphony Orchestra. Got it prices down to $35-40, “but I saw something online saying that students can get in for $10, so I’m still negotiating.”
  8. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. I e-mailed them separately for these tickets and they only have group tickets for up to nine people. Might reach out to the Drama Club to see if they’d consider allocating some of their funds for this event.
  9. A Moderate Conversation with Former First Lady Michelle Obama. Ticket sales open to public October 10th (range from $75-$high hundreds). Paul: suggests purchasing 10 tickets and having people enter in a raffle for it.
  10. Hair Donations/Movember- Potential way for us to bring awareness to men’s health and the environment. Helping The Movember Foundation (grow Facial Hair for a Month (November) and then shave it off) and Matters of Trust (take 3 inches of hair (can be previously treated/untreated) and make mats to clean up oil spills in oceans. Exploring the options for this – looking into local businesses to see if they’d be willing to come in and style/cut hair of the donors.
  11. Will
  12. XL Center- I heard that the NorthEastern vs. UConn was the most wanted game. Game starts at 7:05 pm on Nov. 28. Someone suggested to use the dash bus but they have times of operations. Paul: “They may operate for longer times on special events date. Contact them.”
  13. Tattoo/Henna/Caricature- what are people thinking about having these. Caitlin: have one henna and caricature. Have in our suite to get people into our office. Paul: have budget request before Monday
  14. Mohammad
  15. Breast Cancer Awareness-October BC month, plan something for UConn to raise awareness, trying to collab with Pre-Health, they already have an event in mind for custom t-shirt to go to the walk at the Bushnell on Oct. 29. Paul- looking to do awareness- post some facts and data on our social media page and on the monitor (random facts). Real men wear pink event.
  16. Spotlight Theater- “would love to do movie night every month. Thinking about seeing Thank you for Your Service movie and Jumanji. We can also have speaker events and they have Monday night football.”
  17. Wadsworth Museum- “they have movie screenings and various exhibits that UConn students can use for free. I thought about the Drama club and how they have enough people to perform a show.”
  18. Snapchat Geofilter- “student complained that we don’t have one yet, we need to fix the formatting.”
  19. Irfan
  20. Major Fair- October 19th from 2pm-3pm in room 229
  21. Cricket Club- Constitution is in the process. Already have advisors and detailes sorted out.The constitution will be reviewedby Caitlin tomorrow.
  22. Science Center- “I will ask about alternative for liquid lounges for 18+. They want to do a movie night after hours and tour of an exhibit. We can also do a live science experiment and team building activities. A representative will be coming to our meeting on October 11th to give a short presentation.”
  23. Want to collab with Music Production and A Capella to perform a show
  24. Alondra
  25. Chalk your Block- 60+ people that attended, I was made aware of some high points and low points of student’s availability.
  26. Sea Tea Improv- 20 seats available
  27. Foster Family Farm- 45 seats available
  1. Advisor’s Report
  2. Paul
  3. Flags- Director Mark saw some pictures of our trips and believed it would be better to have students advertise UConn Hartford when they go on these ASG sponsored trips.
  4. ASG Senator liaison- “instead of Caitlin being responsible of info for all clubs, each senator should have their own updates. This way clubs have a primary contact.”
  5. Get people to like us on Facebook, we are missing targeted audiences, we have to start the trend - we have to be leaders.
  6. Did some research on events and saw other schools list their ASG and clubs meeting dates are on their events calendar.
  7. Tons of cups/paper plates, napkins if you need it.
  8. UConn Hartford added a new major- Social Work. Spread the word.

  15. Sublime Strings event- free.
  16. Final Thoughts
  17. Dania- Mexic-Rican Event is being planned, we are planning on collabing with the School of Social Work. Starting to plan our Annual Thanksgiving Dinner. “Our office suite is not the student center. It is a place for ASG members, ASG advisors, and club executives to do work. I will see if I can have a meeting table in the suite and frost our door to minimize students hanging out there.
  18. Chess club- thanks for funding us.
  19. Adjournment
  20. Motion to adjourn the meeting at 5:30 pm. Senator Alqadumi so moves. Senator Koo seconds. Discussion: (none). Motion passes 5/0/0
