Services for older vulnerable people

We offer a range of services that are for older vulnerable people to help them remain independent in their own homes and communities longer.

What type of services do you offer?

There is a comprehensive range of support provided to older vulnerable people, it comprises of the following services:

·  Careline Service – 24 hour response and advice. Our dedicated staff provide an out of hours emergency service, including a falls recovery service. Customers can access careline alarms and a range of equipment. We offer two levels of service - ‘Gold’ – full emergency response by the Support Officers and ‘Bronze’ – monitoring service where family, friends, etc provide response.

Support Officers – provide a floating support and emergency response service 24 hours a day. They also support the Sheltered Housing Schemes in the absence of the Scheme Manager.

·  Sheltered Housing Schemes – a range of flats specifically for older people with the support of an on-site Scheme Manager. All the properties are self contained and have the benefit of 24 hour emergency response. The schemes offer a high standard of accommodation and facilities which include:-

o  communal lounge

o  TV room

o  guest room

o  laundry facilities

o  buggy parking

o  patio and garden areas.

Some of the schemes also have the benefit of Day Care facilities and all offer a range of activities for older people to participate in.

·  Telecare – we work in partnership with Derbyshire County Council to provide a range of non intrusive telecare sensors to help manage the risks to a persons health and home environment 24 hours a day, enabling people to live independently for as long as possible. The sensors include: pendants, falls detectors, smoke alarms, flood detectors etc.

·  Falls Alert Service – Telecare (FAST) - in partnership with Derbyshire County Council. A range of telecare sensors are provided and monitored 24 hour a day. In the event of a fall the service provides a response from trained staff using specialist lifting equipment.

·  Handy Person Scheme – providing practical support including home fire safety checks, home security checks, energy efficiency checks. Also providing practical tasks such as changing light bulbs, securing rails, installing key safes, clearing access paths etc.

·  Adaptations – a range of adaptations can be undertaken to help frail or disabled people manage their own homes more easily. These can include grab rails, ramping, shower units etc.

I am not a Council tenant. Can I get any of these services?

All of the above can be accessed by anyone regardless of tenure. All services are tailored to need the individual needs of clients.

Is there a charge for these services?

Yes, there are charges for some of these services.
