SPECIAL FEATURES

In addition to ten outstanding talks listed in the Clinic Schedule (see reverse side), during the morning pool sessions, Hyman, Clary & Crocker will work on stroke drills with your swimmers. You, as coaches, will have the opportunity to ask stroke related questions at the Sat. afternoon pool session when you observe Hyman, Clary & Crocker demonstrating drills with Gillette, Bauerle & Schubert.

Both days you are welcome to meet informally with our speakers to ask questions related to your programs. On Sunday there will be an open forum at which time you will have the opportunity to discuss subjects of personal interest not listed in the formal schedule.

For swimmers – A special opportunity to work with our country's top coaches and Olympians Hyman, Clary & Crocker. There will be 3 pool sessions and a lecture series with our speakers & the Olympians. See schedule (swimmers sessions in italics.)

Thurs & Fri. evenings USA Swimming will offer a required class for all new clubs.

Fri. 1-6pm a required course for all YMCA coaches will be offered.

Fri. 6:30-7:45pm Technology Corner for coaches –– Select vendors will present a lecture/demonstration session regarding the use of their products.

Both days we have planned a special priced breakfast and lunch in the Exhibit Hall. This will give you further opportunity to meet with our vendors and inspect & learn about the latest equipment for coaches and swimmers.

Fri. there will be an informal social for coaches & swimmers in the Exhibit Hall. All of our vendors will be present. A special raffle will be held by Speedo.

Sat. the clinic social, sponsored by Speedo, will be a gathering with our speakers and a special clinic raffle drawing with prizes donated by all vendors including an IST digital clock & Vasa Trainer. You must be present to win raffle prizes.

THE TRADE FAIR

The 2012 Trade Fair will be an extensive display of swimming equipment provided by and national distributors including: Aardvark Swim, Active Network/Hy-tek, Adolph Kiefer, ASCA, Colorado Time, Daktronics, D&J Sports, Dolfin, Finis, Hasty Awards, International Sports Timing, Kast-A-Way, Metro Swim Shop, Nike, Speedo, Swimming World, TeamUnify, The Swim Team Store, Total Performance, TYR, USA Swimming & Walters Swim Supply. These companies will offer for your perusal the latest suits, the newest timing system technology, training aids, & computer programs.

OTHER FEATURES AND INFORMATION

ASCA, USA Swimming & the YMCA will offer courses prior to our clinic at the Crowne Plaza on Thurs & Fri. All courses are optional with an additional fee. CLINIC STAFF

Teri McKeever – Teri enters her 21st year as Head Women’s Coach at Cal Berkeley. She is regarded as one of the best swimming mentors in the country. Teri made history when named the first woman to be an Asst. Olympic Coach in ’04 & ’08 & again when named first woman to be Olympic Head Coach for ‘12. The Cal women have won 3 NCAA National Championships in ’09, ’11 & ’12. In ’09, she was named NCAA Coach of the Year & PAC 10 Coach of the Year 3 times. Teri was Asst. Coach of the US National Team at the ’03, ’05 & ‘07 World Championships, ’03, ’05 & ‘07 Dual in the Pool, the ’02 Pan Pac Games, the ’01 Goodwill Games & Head Coach for the ’06 Pan Pac Games. She was named ASCA Coach of the Year in ’02 & Pac-10 Coach of the Year in ’02 & ’99. Among the athletes she has coached are Olympians Vollmer, Coughlin, Cope & Stitts.

Jack Bauerle – Jack served as Head Women’s Olympic coach in ’08 when two Georgia women, Allison Schmitt and Kara Lynn Joyce, won 2 Silvers & 1 Bronze. The women’s team earned a total of 14 medals, the most of any nation. He has been Head Coach at the U of Georgia for nearly 4 decades. He is the 2nd coach in NCAA history to have Men’s and Women’s teams in the top 5 in the same year & is the most successful coach in the history of the SEC Conference. His teams have earned 4 NCAA Championship titles & in ’05 they made history when his men and women won all 5 relays. Jack has been SEC Coach of the Year 13 times (11 with women & 2 with men) & NCAA Women’s Coach of the Year 5 times. He was Asst. Olympic Coach in ’00 & Head Women’s Coach in ’01, ’03 & ‘05 for the World Championships. Jack is the consummate team coach.

Bob Gillette – As Head Coach at Golden West Swim Club, Arizona Desert Fox & founder of the Arizona Sports Ranch, Bob developed swimmers from local competition to world & Olympic medals. In ’09, Bob was inducted into the ASCA Hall of Fame. Bob invented the first mono fin, now made by Finis, & was among the first to understand the value of great underwater work. He coached Misty Hyman, Olympic gold medalist & Cindy Tran when she broke the 15-16 national age group record in the 100 Back & as the first high school swimmer to go under 52 in that event. Bob was a founding member of the NSCA among his many other contributions to the sport of swimming in all aspects.

Brett Hawke – Brett, a two time Australian Olympian now enters his 4th year as Head Coach at Auburn for men & women. He had been with the program as Asst. Coach since ’06. In ’09, he was Asst. Coach for the World Championships and Asst. Coach for the Brazilian National team at the ’08 Olympics. Most notable of his swimmers is Cesar Cielo who holds the World Record in the 50 free. In ’10, Brett led Auburn to its 16th SEC title. Under Brett’s direction as Co-Head Coach, Auburn men won their 8th NCAA title in ‘09. Brett works directly with the Auburn sprinters. As a swimmer, Brett won 17 NCAA titles while swimming for Auburn and represented Australia in 2 Olympic Games finishing 6th in the 50 free in Athens. He is the former Australian record holder in the 50 free.

Jackie Berning Ph.D. – Always a favorite at our clinics, Jackie is an exercise physiologist with a Ph.D. in nutrition and has worked with USA Swimming advising the coaches, athletes, and sports medicine staff as to nutritional needs of athletes in training and competition. She has traveled with our national teams & is the nutritional consultant for the Colorado Rockies & the Cleveland Indians. She has co-authored Nutrition for Sport & Exercise and Training Nutrition. Jackie teaches nutrition to swimmers at developmental camps and has developed materials geared directly for swimmers, coaches, and parents. Jackie was awarded the Outstanding Teaching Award at U of Colorado in ’00, ‘04 & ‘06.

Ian Crocker – A 3 time Olympian & former American record holder, Ian was a gold medalist in the 400 Medley Relay & 4th in 100 Fly in ‘08. In the 400 Med Relay, he won gold & set world records in both 2004 and 2000 Olympics. In 04, Ian also won a silver medal in the 100 Fly & bronze in 400 Free Relay. In '05 & '03, Ian was the world champion in the 100 Fly and is the current world record holder in the event.
