Dear County Assessor,

In accordance with S.C. Code or Laws Paragraph 12-60-2510 as amended, please consider this letter as my request for Appeal of the Valuation of my property as described below:

My Parcel(s) ID(s) is :____From your Tax bill______and which are Locker Units representing boat slip(s) at The Harborage at Ashley Marina which is located at 33 Lockwood Dr, Charleston, SC 29401-1181.

My slips were valued on my current tax bill as: (indicate slip number and valuation by county – if more than one list all that you are appealing)

I do not feel that the valuation of this property reflects the economic conditions affecting all individuals and companies nationally and worldwide and especially hard hit are those higher end luxury properties, boats, boat manufacturers and Marinas. Marinas from parts of Maine to Miami are experiencing significant declines (30-60%) in traffic movement which started during the summer of 2008 and continues to this day. This decline in available boaters to fill the Marinas means less income is being derived by owners of slips and therefore the property is less of profitable rental property. Also, as business and individuals are hit harder and longer by the continuing effects of the recession, these properties are yielding less income and many are being forced sold at prices that are half their original sales price just 2 or 3 years ago.

Our Marina website a long with other sales mediums, such as local brokers and Craig’s List will further demonstrate the severity of this situation.
