Classroom Expectations - “GET IT DONE!!”

«  Show Best Effort - Do the very best you can do!!! (reading, writing, thinking, scienceing, etc.) Effort goes a long way in my class.

«  Be Prepared - means being on time in the classroom when the bell rings, having all supplies, being able to discuss reading assignments, listening to directions, and having completed assignments.

«  Ask Questions – this is why we are here… you ask… I answer (or ask you a question back to lead you)

«  Be Polite and Respectful to all people and of their materials (Golden Rule; Ps and Qs)

«  Be Positive – a good attitude and hard work help you push through tough situations.

«  Be Honest – with yourself and others (including me)

SAFETY

Safety is a major concern in this class. Students are expected to follow lab safety procedures at all times. Please note: there will be NO WARNING for misbehavior in the laboratory. Students who CHOOSE to behave inappropriately will be removed immediately from the laboratory, and they will receive an automatic detention and reduced lab grade. There is zero tolerance for safety violations in the science laboratory.

On Level Science

Science 7 Homework/Testing

«  Homework is always due and checked at the very beginning of class. After this, it is considered late!

«  On-level science students will have 3 days to turn in their late work for a MAXIMUM grade of 70. Any late work not completed within three days will receive a grade of zero.

«  If a student fails to turn in several assignments then a teacher will assign the student mandatory afterschool Homework Club to complete the missing assignments.

«  Our district’s purpose for students redoing tests, quizzes and assignments is to support student mastery of course objectives. In order to support student learning, we will provide appropriate interventions (tutoring) for students before they retake a test or re-do work. Students can make no more than a 70 on the retaken tests or re-done work. A student will only have 1 week to make up a failed assignment or test. If they do not make up a failed assignment or test within 1 week, the failing grade will remain in the grade book.

«  All test and quizzes will come from daily work, labs, lectures, and other resources.

Grading Scale

«  Tests and projects make up 40% of the grade. All projects will be done during class.

«  Labs and quizzes account for 35% of the grade. All labs will be conducted in the science lab. Some labs will require the completion of a lab report. If a student does not complete the lab report in class then it will need to be completed for homework.

«  Daily Work / Homework makes up 25% of the grade.
