Commissioning Project Manager/Engineer - NYC

Position Summary:
The successful candidate will provide engineering and technical support to coordinate and execute the commissioning process. The Commissioning Engineer is a key position in the New York City region and will help ensure newly constructed and existing buildings perform in accordance with their design intent, current facility requirements, contractual obligations, and the owner’s operational needs.
Essential Functions:
Candidates must be familiar with mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment and systems. This position will require effective leadership and management capabilities and the ability to work on site with major clients on a regular basis.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • The ability to be conversant in heating equipment and systems, cooling equipment and systems, envelope systems, electrical equipment and systems, general construction, typical operations and maintenance management systems, building automation systems, plumbing equipment and systems, sustainable design and construction methods and materials, and construction processes
  • The independent execution of all phases of the new and existing building commissioning process
  • The ability to work without close supervision and provide leadership to ensure the successful completion of the contractual requirements of both new building/major renovation commissioning projects and existing building commissioning projects
  • Management of projects to completion, on-time, within budget, and within scope of work
  • Production of reports, summaries, and briefings using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Participation in presentations, both formal and informal, as part of a larger marketing effort
  • Client management to ensure overall satisfaction and business development

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in engineering
  • A detailed understanding of the new and existing building commissioning processes
  • Hands-on experience operating equipment and systems
  • Well versed in the proper terminology of building systems
  • Able to teach others the fundamental attributes of commissioning
  • Demonstrated ability at managing a major client or major clients independently
  • Superior communication skills, both oral and written
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and lead others
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook

Desired Qualifications:

  • 7 years of experience providing design, construction administration, construction management, or commissioning services.
  • P.E. License
  • CEM
  • CCP
  • Experience performing energy audits and calculations
