Dear Parents, Carers and Colleagues

Head of School

It is with mixed feelings that I write to inform you that, after 15 months here at Thomas Tallis School, my timeas Head of Schoolwill end on Friday 10 May 2013.

I have really enjoyed working to lead the school in partnership with Mr Parker as well as with the students, their parents and carers, governors andstaff.

I understand that you will be disappointed that I will be leaving the school before the end of the summer term. However, my personal circumstances have changed.

Whilst my decision to leave a term earlier than I had planned was made last December, I agreed with the Chair of Governors to wait to announce my decision so that it coincided with that about the appointment of a new headteacher. Having decided to leave at Easter, at the Chair’s request, I agreed to work into the summer term for a month more than I had originally intended.

It is my belief that the school is now in a position of real strength both in terms of the positive changes that have occurred over the last few years and with the recent appointment of Carolyn Roberts as Headteacher from September.

I would like to add that I have been fortunate to work in a number of schools and Local Authorities since I began working as a teacher in 1977. In my experience, Thomas Tallis School and Greenwich LA are up there with the best.

I wish all the school’s different communities well for what I see as a very bright and successful future.

Finally, I would want to add that I will always consider Thomas Tallis School as one of “my” schools and will eagerly follow its progress from afar.

Yours sincerely

Ken Jones
