When I say “stop” stop

Objective: At the end of this lesson the students will know the skills and techniques on dribbling and kicking a soccer ball.

Learning Cues: Kicking: inside foot, follow through, stopping ball

Set Induction:

Hey everyone lets take a seat on a poly spot. Today we are going to learn the proper way to kick. We are going to learn how to kick the ball really far and really hard but still have control of our balls. At the end I have a game for us to play.

Organizational Format:

Everyone sit down on a poly mat. When I say “go” I want you to go and get one ball and return back to the poly mat. When I say “go” I want you to find a partner and begin kicking the ball back and forth to one another. When I say “go” I want you to line up behind Wes.

Content Development:

1.  “First we are going to learn the proper way to kick. Lets step with one foot and kick with the other foot”

2.  “Lets try this three times without the ball”

3.  “Now lets try stepping and kicking with the other foot”

4.  “Great job, when I say ‘go’ I want you to run over and get a ball and run back to your spot” GO

5.  “Ok now when I say go I want you to tap the ball with your inside foot five times”

6.  “When you want to stop the ball you toe trap the ball with your toe on the top of the ball”

7.  “Can everyone try this” Do you use your hands when you play soccer?”

8.  “Remember to stay in the cones” GO

9.  “Return with your ball to a hoola hoop”

10.  “Now does everyone see a cone in front of you? This is your cone that you are going to try and hit”

11.  “When I say go you are going to kick your ball one time and try and hit the cone over”

12.  “After you kick the ball go and get it and return back to your hoola hoop”

13.  “Does everyone understand?” GO

14.  “Lets try this four more times”

15.  “Remember to kick with the end side of your foot”

16.  “Freeze !Great job everyone, now we are going to move the cones farther away”

17.  “Lets try and remember to kick with the inside of your foot”

18.  “Freeze, everyone go place your balls over at the bucket and return back to your spot”

19.  “Can everyone run over and line up behind Wes for me”

20.  “Now we are going to learn how to make a goal”

21.  “What sport makes goals for points?”

22.  “One at a time I want you to kick the ball into the goal”

23.  “Lets see how many goals we can make”

Culminating Activity:

Everyone gets in a circle and one at a time you have to say the name of the person you want to kick it to and point to the person and kick it to them. They have to stop the ball with a toe touch.

Closure:

Do you use your hands when you play soccer?

Can anyone demonstrate what a toe trap is?
