CALL TO ORDER: 7:02 PM by Larry Sherwood

ADDITIONS TO AGENDA: None

REVIEW AND APPROVE MINUTES:

·  MOTION by Lori Uhryn to approve minutes.

·  Second by Vicci Letourneau.

·  All in favour.

PRESIDENT’S REPORT:

·  Fedina’s are filing an appeal with Hockey Alberta.

·  Larry and Doug Cox attended the Town of Devon meeting. A second rink is not in their plans. User groups gave their “Wish Lists” for improvements.

·  The guys running the skate sharpening hut at the arena have closed down temporarily and are going for training with BladeMasters so they can be properly certified, then will reopen. If they can’t be successful here they will go back to New Sarepta.

·  Midget Rep is having problems with the rotation of practice ice between Tuesday and Wednesday. 3 of the 4 coaches can’t be at the arena on Tuesdays. They would like to swap times with another team. MOTION by Linda Herczeg that the Midget Rep and House teams continue to rotate practice schedules between Tuesdays and Wednesdays in order to accommodate both teams. Second by Garry LaBine. All in favour.

·  Rink attendant wouldn’t let Midget Rep into the dressing rooms after the PeeWee tournament. He said the ice still belonged to PeeWee even though the schedule posted by Linda at the rink showed that it was Midget ice.

·  Should DMHA be looking for a different league? Larry is not happy that Central Cities bumped the Atom A team up into AA without any notification. They were then given an ultimatum – move up or don’t play at all. No appeal was allowed. Our rep is not receiving any communication from Central Cities. Central Cities is looking at changing their 2 hour travel rule. DMHA need to find someone to sit on the board of Central Cities.

·  Other possible leagues include Edmonton Minor Hockey and North Central. An analysis of the other leagues should be done to get all relevant information out to DMHA parents so they can give an informed opinion as to their preference (they are the people who have to do all the driving).

·  CBC contacted Larry – they are doing a story on hockey volunteers.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Victor Wearden (Vice-President):

·  Verified which people were interested in being on the Bylaw Committee. Will arrange a meeting sometime soon.

Jackie Preece (Treasurer / IP Tom Thumb Coordinator):

·  No financial information was available.

·  Jackie will only be cutting cheques on Wednesdays.

·  Eight 50/50 licenses from last year came back as incomplete. She still needs to track down one more. If these aren’t made complete, we could lose the license for the Oilers 50/50.

·  Is getting the raffle licenses for the tournaments.

·  Almost ready for the Tom Thumb/IP Tournament.

Colleen Chorzempa (Secretary):

·  Has DMHA considered supplying players with new home and away socks at the beginning of each season? No, as many families don’t feel they need new socks each year. One thing some coaches do to make the socks last longer is set a team rule that game socks cannot be worn for practices.

Devin Scherger (Coaches Coordinator): Nothing to report

Trish Rizko (Registrar): Nothing to report

Lori Uhryn (Referee-in Chief / Midget Coordinator):

·  Referees have requested that a copy of the tournament rules be put in the referees’ room at the beginning of each tournament.

·  Hockey Alberta says that referees shouldn’t be moving the nets for ice cleaning. Waiting to see if this ruling applies to the entire province.

·  Hasn’t found the CD with the logo for the Midget jackets yet. A new one will cost about $550.00. MOTION by Devin Scherger that DMHA pay for a new copy of the CD with the DMHA logo for the Midget jackets. Second by Victor Wearden. All in favour.

·  Received an e-mail from a travel company that would help teams book hotels when attending our tournaments. They put a link from our web-site to theirs and DMHA would receive a portion of the profits. MOTION by Lori Uhryn that DMHA try this company and that any proceeds received be placed in the fund set up to help players who can’t afford registration fees. Second by Victor Wearden. All in favour.

Doug Cox (Level Coordinator): No report

Shanley Foerster (Atom Coordinator):

·  Has requested a different parent liaison for Atom House 1. She has had no communication with them.

·  The photographer from the Devon Dispatch asked for a game schedule so that more game photographs can be taken.

Jolene Burnstad (PeeWee Coordinator):

·  PeeWee Tournament was very successful – only a few minor issues.

Lawrence Allen (Bantam Coordinator):

·  Submitted receipt for ice purchased in Warburg for a league game for Bantam Rep which had to be rescheduled due to a number of the team’s players attending the referee clinic.

·  Bantam House requested permission to travel out of province for a tournament in Kamloops, BC, the weekend of February 20. MOTION by Lori Uhryn to allow Bantam House to attend the out of province tournament. Second by Victor Wearden. All in favour. Trish will check into the terms of travel for permits. Does the entire team have to travel by the same mode of transportation?

Linda Herczeg (Ice Coordinator):

·  Linda needs to be informed by Wednesday noon of any ice being given up on the weekend in order to give the town proper notice.

Vicky Sue Baron (Referee Assignor): No report.

Pat Pelz (Central Cities and 16/60 Rep):

·  Midget House has been retiered.

·  Atom Rep has been retiered.

Sherri Heigh (Kitchen Coordinator):

·  Still working on getting the pop machines removed from the arena.

Garry LaBine (Equipment Manager):

·  Received the goalie equipment from the Spencer family

·  Gold in the Net charges $160.00/ hour for 4 goalies. Just need to let them know what dates we would want them.

·  Has ordered more hockey socks. They are very difficult to get.

·  Has picked up the replacement jerseys.

Vicci Letourneau (Fundraising):

·  Some coaches haven’t picked up the raffle tickets for their teams yet.

·  Has a new idea for fundraising. Will e-mail it out for opinions.
