World War One Assignment (Test Grade)

Your task is to put together the information you have learned about WWI and demonstrate your understanding. You have a choice for how you present your project: either a visual presentation or an essay. (Choose 1).

Your project must answer the following questions:

·  Why did WWI occur?

·  What countries were involved? What alliances existed?

·  Why did the U.S. enter the war?

·  How did the U.S. decide which side to join?

·  How did the war affect life at home in the U.S.?

·  What laws were passed during the war?

·  How the government pay for the war?

·  What contributions did women and minorities make to the war effort?

·  How did the war end?

·  What was President Wilson’s plan for peace?

·  Briefly describe the Treaty of Versailles. How did it change Europe and effect Germany in particular?

Visual Presentation

Create a visual (poster, chart, cartoon strip, children’s book, flyer) that covers all of the above questions and write a one page summary of what you have learned about WWI.

Essay

Write a three-page essay typed double spaced covering the above questions.

To complete this assignment use your notes from class, textbook, www.google.com (type in WWI), encyclopedias, and any other resources you have access to.

When using information from a source you must cite it, otherwise it is plagiarism and YOU WILL FAIL. The best way to cite your source is to do the following: According to American Voices, “The Germans proclaimed a war zone around the British Isles within which Allied merchant ships would be sunk upon sight.” (Page 421) If you use information from a website, put the sentences in quotes and in the parentheses put the website address. For example: “In general the United States and its leaders were determined to stay out of the European war.” (www.firstworldwar.com)
