Sight Words: look, going, with

*We had a great time during Teddy Bear Week! We counted, made patterns and added with Teddy Grahams, sorted and graphed Gummy Bears, and read lots of bear stories.

*We will be having a Valentine’s Day party on Thursday, February 13, with a snow date on Friday, February 14. This will be a small party during snack time, so I am not having parents attend. I have attached a class list so that your child can write the first names of their classmates on their Valentine’s Day cards. Please make sure that they make one for all students so that no one’s feelings will be hurt. Your child can bring in the valentines any day beginning the week of February 10.

*We will be celebrating the 100th day of school that week too! As of today the date is February 11, but it will change if we have any snow days. To celebrate I would like to have the children make a special project at home out of 100 items. Some examples are 100 stickers, a snowman made out of mini marshmallows, a drawing of 100 things, a necklace or a paper chain. Your child may be as creative as they would like. We have been practicing counting by five’s and ten’s, so please have your child practice as they do the project. They may bring in the project as soon as it is completed.

*Our author for February is Marc Brown. He is the author of the “Arthur” books. If your child would like to bring in some of his books, then please make sure his/her name is written on the book.

*Homework* The Family Homework for February is to decorate the heart. The Reading Bags will be coming home on Monday. A letter is included in the bag with directions and tips for reading. In the journal, the students have done one sentence about a book that we read in class. Please make sure that they remember all of the rules for writing a sentence each time that they are writing.
