on Integrated Life-Cycle Management of Infrastructures

December 9-11, 2004

The Hong KongUniversity of Science and Technology

Hong Kong, China

Hosted by

Department of Civil Engineering and

Smart and Sustainable Infrastructure Research Centre

The Hong KongUniversity of Science & Technology

Introduction

The many regions in the world are experiencing exploding and rapid growth. In order to improve standards of living without adversely affecting the environment of the region, the implemented solutions must be sustainable.

Recently, there has been an increasing level of awareness about the significance of green built technologies and sustainable development and their integration with infrastructure management. However, thus far, there has been little focused effort to bring the three together in theory and in practice.

The focus of the Workshop will be on the life cycle management/assessment of infrastructures considering green building technologies and sustainable development/solutions. The participants will share their experience and insights on the subject and its socio-economic and environmental impacts. The objective of this Workshop is to achieve the integration of climate, environment, materials and structure in the design of sustainable infrastructures.

Call for papers

The workshop is now accepting abstract submissions from government agencies, academics, researchers, consultants and other interested individuals. The abstract should be in accordance with the following broad topics and be written in Microsoft Word format in English about 300 words. The author’s name, affiliation, mailing address, telephone/ facsimile numbers, e-mail address, major content and conclusions must be included in the abstract and submitted to the symposium secretariat in electronic form via e-mail:
