Jesse’s 5 hour baby sweater/cardigan by Diane D Louw
I wanted to make this in double knit as worsted is hard to find here and if you do, watch out cause it will cost you a fortune. So I modified the original 5 hour baby sweater in order to knit it in double knit wool. I have included button bands into my changes as well.

Size : 3 months / 22 inch finished chest
Guage ; 20 sts over 28 rows/4 inches
Materials needed:
Needles : 4 mm and dpn
100 gram double knitting wool (8 ply) (300 meters of wool to be safe)
3 Buttons

Row 5 k2, yo, k2tog, purl to last 4 sts, k2tog, yo, k2

Row 7 k5, purl to last 5 sts, k5
Row 8 knit
Row 9 k5, purl to last 5 sts, k5
Row 10 knit
Row 11 knit
Row 12 knit 4, KFB, [k1, KFB] until last 6 sts, k6 (114 stitches)
Row 13 k5, purl to last 5 sts, k5
Row 14 knit
Row 15 k5, purl to last 5 sts, k5
Row 16 knit
Row 17 k5, purl to last 5 sts, k5
Row 18 k2, yo, k2tog, knit to last 4 sts, k2tog, yo, k2

Row 32 k2, yo, k2tog, knit to last 4 sts, k2tog, yo, k2
Row 33 k5, purl to last 5 sts, k5
Dividing the stitches
Row 34 knit 31 stitches (front), knit and place the next 34 stitches onto a holder or draw thread thru these stitches (sleeve), knit 54 stitches (back), knit and place the next 34 stitches onto a holder or draw a thread thru these stitches (sleeve) and knit 31 (front)
Row 35 knit
Row 36 - 66 do stocking stitch and keep the borders of 5 sts
Row 67-73 knit
Cast off.
Sleeves
Divide the 34 sts onto the dpns
Round 1 purl so that the garter stitch effect is obtained
Round 2-31 knit .
Round 32 K2, (k2tog, k3) x7
Round 33 purl
Round 34 knit
Round 35 purl
Round 36 knit
Round 37 purl
Round 38 knit
Round 39 purl
Round 40 cast off.
Weave in ends and sew on buttons.
