OdysseyProject Selections
Choose one project to work on.
GROUP:
- Video: Choose one Book from the poem and act it out, or do a shortened version of the entire poem (3-5 minutes), focusing on your motif. You should have your lines “memorized” (you may want to designate a person to hold cue cards), and use props and costumes. The movie/trailer should look as Greek as you can make it. While filming, don’t do anything that would result in injury or arrest. All movies should be put onto a DVD, USB, or YouTube.
- Puppet Play: Present “TheOdyssey” in 3-5 minutes, focusing on your motif. Create puppets of all characters necessary. You should have you lines “memorized.”
PAIR OR INDIVIDUAL:
- Create a newspaper that would have been written concerning Odysseus’ (or Telemachus’) adventures/life, focusing on your chosen motif. This newspaper should be written for the ancientGreek people during the time this poemtook place. Your newspaper should contain all of the following:
- Front page: Newspaper title, 2 feature articles including headlines, 2 pictures
- Page 2: One editorial, two obituaries
- Page 3: One sports article, one weather forecast for ancientGreece
- Page 4: Two advertisements for the ancientGreek people
- Choose one Book or the entire poem (condensed) and write a poem or a rap song about it (2-3 minutes). Videotape the rap/poem being performed, focusing on your motif. Put it onto a DVD to turn in. Also turn in your lyrics/poem with the DVD.
INDIVIDUAL:
- Expository Essay: Explain the importance of your chosen motif in regards to “The Odyssey.” Be sure to clearly state your thesis (“answer”); organize your ideas in an order that makes sense and connect those ideas using transitions; and develop your ideas fully and thoughtfully with well-chosen details and precise words in less than 26 lines.
