Post title: Cleaner

Based at: Duchy College Stoke Climsland

Reports to: Cleaning Manager

Grade/salary scale: CC09, £14,455 (£7.20 per hour)

PURPOSE OF POST

To work as a member of a team of cleaners to undertake the cleaning of areas in the College as designated by the Cleaning Manager.

Specific duties

1.  Using appropriate powered and other cleaning equipment, clean the college premises to a pre-determined schedule.

2.  Duties to include sweeping, damp mopping, dusting, vacuuming, polishing and cleaning of toilet areas. Service standards will be agreed with the Cleaning Supervisor

3.  Replenish consumables in toilet areas and clear any blockages.

4.  Participate in deep cleaning activities. This work may include such activities as window cleaning, scrubbing of floors, cleaning of light fittings, walls, window blinds, upholstery and high level cleaning.

5.  Assist with moving furniture and any other related task as required.

6.  Secure buildings as instructed.

7.  Report any building defects or equipment faults.

8.  Respond to emergencies in respect of sickness, other body fluids, and animal waste as directed throughout College premises and grounds.

9.  Take rubbish to local collection points.

10.  Work in any area or on any site as directed.

11.  Undertake Training as required.

12.  Attend Meetings as directed.

13.  Participate in the Performance Review.

14.  Work in any area or on any site as required.

15.  Comply with College Health & Safety policy at all times.

16.  Any other duties consistent with the grade and general responsibilities of the post as may be required from time to time in addition to those listed above

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Qualifications/Experience

Essential:

·  Have a reasonable standard of numeracy and literacy.

·  Experience of cleaning in a similar environment.

Desirable:

·  Have or be prepared to undertake cleaning task qualifications.

·  Have reasonable IT skills.

·  Basic knowledge of Health and Safety, Manual Handling and COSHH procedures.

·  Experience of cleaning to service level agreements or set standards

If the role requires a staff member to use their own vehicle there is a legal requirement to hold business use category on their motor insurance policies.
