[#][$][K][+] Using the Installation Wizard

Run the installation WizardWizard to carry out the basic installation of each new Network Print Server that you add to the network. After running the Wizard the print server will be ready for immediate use.

You cannot run the Installation Wizard a second time, but you can change any of the configuration settings made by the Wizard by using the Network and Properties options from the Setup menu.

To start the Installation Wizard:

1. If necessary double click the Axis Units folder to reveal the New Axis Units folder in the main window.

2. Click the icon of new Network Print Server that you wish to install.

3. Click the Install ButtonInstall_Button in the toolbar or select Install in the Setup menu or the pop-up menuPop_up_Menus.

4. In the Installation options WindowInstallation_Options, select the first option 'with Installation Wizard'.

The Wizard will guide you through each step of the installation - default options are presented, so on most pages you don't have to use every step of the Wizard. Use the buttons at the bottom of the window to:

Back and Next- move backwards and forwards through the Wizard steps.

Finish- close the Wizard and install the Network Print Server using the settings made - only available on the last page of the Wizard.

Cancel- close the Wizard without making any changes; the print server remains uninstalled.

[#][$][K][+] Naming the Network Print Server

Type in a name for the Network Print Server, or accept the current name. The name will identify the print server to the users, and it will be used as part of the default name for the printers and print queues - therefore you may find that using a name which reflects its use and/or location is more convenient for the end users.

You can change the name later by using the Rename option in the File Menu or in the pop-up menuPop_up_Menus.

Use the buttons at the bottom of the window to:

Back and Next- move backwards and forwards through the Wizard steps.

Cancel- close the Wizard without making any changes; the print server remains uninstalled.

[#][$][K][+] Setting the network environments

All the available network environments are shown on this page with a selection mark in the box alongside their name. You may prevent your Network Print Server being configured in any of the displayed environments by deselecting them from this page. Once the installation is complete, it is recommended practice to disable any protocols that are not required, via the properties page. This will ease the loading of the network by reducing the number of unnecessary transmissions.

If the NetWare protocol is not installed on this PC, or there are no NetWare File Servers on the network, the NetWare check box will be disabled (appears gray).

At a later date you can change the configuration of the network environments in which the print server is to operate in by using the option to modify the network - select the print server icon in the main window and then click the Network ButtonNetwork_Button or Properties ButtonProperties_Button on the toolbar, depending on which configuration to change.

[#][$][K][+] Printing in the SNA environment

Node Identifier:This is the VTAM 'IDBLK' (first three digits) and 'IDNUM' (last five digits) parameters.
- The default and recommended value of the IDBLK is E07 - this value is registered at IBM for use only with Axis products.
- The default value for IDNUM is the last five digits of the print servers Node Address.
The Node Identifier value is not significant to an AS/400.

Node Service Access Point:This is the Service Access Point (SAP) of the print server SNA protocol stack.
The default value is 04.

Host MAC Address:This is the Media Access Control (MAC) address of the host. If the print server is connected to the IBM host through a gateway, this is the MAC address of the gateway.
The default value is FF FF FF FF FF FF, indicating that any host address will be accepted.

Host Service Access Point:This is the Service Access Point (SAP) for the host SNA protocol stack on the host.
The default value is 04.

Automatic Link Establishment:This parameter controls if the print server should try to establish a session with the host by itself.
The default value is NO (empty check box).

[#][$][K][+] Printing in the NetWare network environment (print queues)

One or more of these options appear according to the number of ports available in the type of Network Print Server you are installing:

Printer on LPT1:Printer on LPT2:Printer on COM1:Printer on MIO, or KYOI:

Type in the names you wish to give to the print queues connected to the Network Print Server. These names will be seen by the users when selecting a printer - so it's a good idea to choose logical names that identify the printer's location and possibly its type.

The default names given to print queues are made up from the print server name together with the port name, LPT1, LPT2, COM1, MIO or KYOI. The port names MIO and KYOI are used solely in conjunction with AXIS 570/670 MIO and Intermedium IMA PS (ET-01/TR-01) modular interface cards, respectively.

If you leave the name blank then a print queue will not be created and there will be no entry in the Connected Print Queues list under the NetWare tab in the Network Environments.

You can connect and disconnect print queues later by using the Network option in the Setup Menu or in the pop-up menuPop_up_Menus.

[#][$][K][+] Printing in the TCP/IP environment

DHCP/BOOTP The DHCP and BOOTP check boxes allow automatic updatingRARP_or_BOOTP_requests of the network address, Subnet Mask and Default Router at start up of the network print server. Consequently, the corresponding fields (defined below) cannot be set manually and will appear gray in the Properties Page.

RARP: This check box enables the Reverse Address Resolution Protocol. It functions in much the same way as DHCP and BOOTP but is restricted to automatically updating the IP address only. When RARP is enabled the IP Address cannot be set manually and will appear gray in the Properties Page.

Manual:In instances where DHCP, BOOTP or RARP are either unavailable or undesirable, this check box enables manual input of IP Address, Subnet Mask and Default Router information.

IP Address:This is the Internet Address for the Network Print Server and must be an exclusive address to prevent conflicts between network devices.

Subnet Mask:This parameter specifies the net mask used to determine when the traffic should be sent via a router. For example the normal class C mask is 255.255.255.0. The default 0.0.0.0 indicates that automatic router sensing is used.

Default Router:This parameter specifies the Internet address for the default router. All traffic directed outside the local network (according to the Subnet Mask) is sent to the default router. Any re-routing via other routers is done automatically. The default 0.0.0.0 indicates that no default router is set.

Note: Your Network Administrator should be consulted before altering these addresses.

[#][$][K][+] Setting a password and printing a test page

Configuration Password: This is optional. Enter a password if you want to restrict accessAccess_Restrictions to changing the configuration. You will need to enter this password before you get access to the Property Pages or Network Window for the purpose of changing the configuration. You can change this password later by using the Property PagesAbout_Property_Pages.
Caution! once set, if the password is lost you will have to reset the configuration to the factory default settingsResetting_the_configuration_to_the_factory_default_values and then re-install, which will remove all the configuration changes you have made.
Note: Setting a configuration password will not prevent users gaining View Only access to the Network and Property windows. If you wish to restrict the users viewing rights refer to the Users option on the General PropertyProperties_general.

Print Test Page: Produces a test printout through the NetWare environment on the chosen printer when the Finish button is clicked. This test can be used to confirm that your Network Print Server has been correctly installed in NetWare. The page printed will show the configuration settings that you have made using the Wizard.

Use the buttons at the bottom of the window to:

Back- move backwards through the Wizard steps.

Finish- close the Wizard and install the Network Print Server using the settings made.

Cancel- close the Wizard without making any changes; the print server remains uninstalled.
