1. OPENING BUSINESS

a. Call to Order: Mr. Goetz called the meeting to order with the Pledge of Allegiance at 4pm.

b. Members Present: Rob Peterson, Sandra Morrison, Melissa Trimbach, Lisa Birkley, Stephanie Ewald, Dawn Laber, Mark Goetz

c. Guest Recognition: Mr. Goetz welcomed Martha Coffman, HMS teacher.

d. January Agenda Approval: A motion was made by Melissa Trimbach and seconded by Sandra Morrison and the Agenda was approved.

e. November 27, 2012 Minutes: A motion was made by Melissa Trimbach and seconded by Rob Peterson and the Minutes of November 27, 2012 were approved as read. (There was no December, 2012 meeting.)

f. Good News Reports:

i. KY Music Educator’s All-State: Mr. Goetz congratulated Lori Hopkins, Band Director, and the following students for being chosen for the KY Music Educator’s All State: Josh Klopp, Abbey Parrott, Adrian Mester, and Dante Cata.

ii. HMS Academic Team: Mr. Goetz congratulated Melissa Trimbach and the HMS Academic Team on becoming District Champions. Team members are: BenStarzec, Mason Bibb, Jackson Frink, Edwin Vardiman, Sudar Addepalli, Helen Ross, Grace Morrison, Donnie Adams, Thomas Chalk,

Josti Sieverding, Emma Reed, Alexis Wolfe, Bonny Lemma. All players will participate in the Regional Governor’s Cup.

iii. Probability Class Jefferson Award: Mr. Goetz congratulated Kathy Donelan and her 1st and 2nd Quarter Data Analysis students for winning the December, 2012 Jefferson Award for their Kids Vote 2012 project.

Second Quarter Data Analysis Students: Logan Aubrey, Nathan Combs, Madison Curry, Jayden Davis, Nathan Davis, Jonathan Dunwoody, Alan Ford, Jacob Horton, Griffin Huber, Keaton Huddleston, Karsen Hunter, Andres Hussein, Avi Marcus-Ream, Brett Mayse, Abigail Mohr, Drew Rom, Michael Whitford, Juliannah Workman

First Quarter Data Analysis Students: Simon Abanto, Sudarsana Addepalli, Mason Bibb, Avery Feinauer, Cory Gish, Nick Gish, Iyana Hall, Brooke Hodory, Josh Homer, Kelly Mentzer, Elliot Schuett, Thomas Wade, Corey Wagner, Brady Walz

iv. Spelling Bee: Mr. Goetz congratulated Helen Ross for winning the HMS Spelling Bee.

v. Geography Bee: Mr. Goetz congratulated Emma Reed (1st place) and Chay Rust (runner-up) for winning the HMS Geography Bee.

vi. PT3: Mr. Goetz explained the concept of PT3 (Parents and Teachers talking Together). Fifteen HMS teachers and several parents will meet on February 28.

g. Public Comments: Sandra Morrison introduced questions from parents:

* D.C. Fundraising Mr. Goetz explained that we are following directives from the IRS and Kentucky Department of Education and all fundraising monies are put in the D.C. general fund to be divided equally for all students participating in the trip. Fundraiser money is no longer earned nor put into individual accounts.

* School fees The breakdown of student fees was explained.

2. STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT

a. MAP Discussion (Measures of Academic Progress Study for Reading and Math)

Council reviewed and discussed.

3. CSIP

After review and discussion, a motion was made by Stephanie Ewald and seconded by Lisa Birkley and the Comprehensive School Improvement Plan for 2013-2014 was approved.

4. PROGRAM REVIEW

a. Update Dr. Laber reviewed with Council.

5. BUDGET REPORT Mr. Goetz reviewed with Council.

6. BYLAWS AND POLICY UPDATE PROCESS

a. 2013-2014 Policy Update -- 1st READINGS:

i. SBDMC Law Council reviewed and discussed.

ii. Alignment with State Standards Council reviewed and discussed.

iii. Budget and Spending Policy After review and discussion, a motion was made by Stephanie Ewald and seconded by Rob Peterson to put “Principal” in all the blanks of the Budget and Spending Policy. Motion carried.

iv. Classroom Assessment Policy After review and discussion, a motion was made by Stephanie Ewald and seconded by Sandra Morrison and the motion carried.

v. Committee Policy After review and discussion, a motion was made by Lisa Birkley and seconded by Stephanie Ewald and the motion carried.

7. SCHEDULE NEXT MEETING The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 4pm. We will have 2nd Readings on all the above policies.

8. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business, a motion was made by Stephanie Ewald and seconded by Lisa Birkley and the meeting was adjourned at 5:57pm.
