Guidelines for Friendship Matinee Groups
What is Friendship Matinee?
Friendship Matinee is the Royal Albert Hall’s membership scheme that provides people who are supported by charitable, community and voluntary organisations the opportunity to come to the Hall to see world-class shows for only £5.00 per ticket. The aim of the scheme is to encourage those who would not usually come to the Hall to access the arts and to provide inspirational and rewarding experiences.
Each year the Royal Albert Hall will present a special matinee performance in the main auditorium exclusively for members of the scheme. Friendship Matinee will be launched on Friday 4 October at 3pm with a special performance of ‘The Very Best of John Barry’ by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
Can my organisation join Friendship Matinee?
Friendship Matinee is open to local and national voluntary, charitable and community groups who support those who may not usually come to the Royal Albert Hall for whatever reasons. The Hall welcomes as many eligible groups to the scheme as possible but reserves the right not to approve any application it feels does not fit these criteria.
How does Friendship Matinee work?
1. If your organisation is interested in joining the scheme, please complete the application form overleaf.
2. Once complete, please email this to . If your application is successful you will receive a confirmation email, a promotional code which you will require to book your subsidised tickets and a hyperlink to a private booking page on the Hall’s website.
3. To book your tickets you will need to follow the hyperlink and enter the promotional code and your organisation’s details online; or for bookings of 9 people and over we require you to phone the Hall’s Box Office on 0845 401 5034 and quote the promotional code.
4. All ticket requests will be managed on a first come first served basis with all seats available at £5.00 only.
What else do I need to know about booking my tickets?
· The promotional code and hyperlink you receive must not be shared with any third parties as all prospective members must apply directly to the Hall.
· Currently, the Hall does not cap the number of tickets requested by its members, however tickets will be subject to availability. In the spirit of the scheme’s aims, tickets should not be booked for members of staff within your organisation other than to ensure the appropriate numbers of chaperones you feel is necessary to accompany your group.
· Each organisation must ensure that any children under the age of 16 are accompanied by an appropriate adult to the ratio of 1 adult per 10 children with a minimum of 2 adults per group. Failure to comply with this policy may result in non-admission to the Hall.
· All chaperones’ tickets will be charged at £5.00 per ticket.
· Any wheelchair users in your group are given one additional complimentary ‘companion’ ticket. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that wheelchair users and companions will be seated with the rest of your group, as the wheelchair platforms are in specific locations. Please book all wheelchair user tickets by phone as there are a limited number of tickets available.
