Eighth Annual Chancellor’s Ball Raises $100,000 for Student Scholarships at Santa Ana and SantiagoCanyonColleges

(Santa Ana)—On Saturday night, October 14, some 450 friends and supporters of the Rancho Santiago Community College District (RSCCD) and its students enjoyed the “Rhythm of the Night” at the eighth annual Chancellor’s Ball at the Grove of Anaheim. The black tie optional event raised approximately $100,000 in support of student scholarships and programs at Santa Ana and SantiagoCanyonColleges.

“This celebration is about the synergy that happens when our colleges, our students and our partners in education work together to transform lives,” said Edward Hernandez, Jr., Ed.D., district chancellor. “We thank the community for its unprecedented support of the 2005 Chancellor’s Ball,” he said.

Three Partners in Education were saluted for their support of RSCCDstudents and programs. The 2005 honorees include Douglas E. Barnhart Construction Company, Inc.,Dr. Al Mijares and the Santa AnaUnifiedSchool District and Margaret Pashko, public affairs manager for Southern California Gas Company

As part of the festivities, three RSCCD employees were honored. Bob Partridge, assistant vice chancellor of facility planning and district support services, and Bob Brown, director of district construction and support services, were named Managers of the Year for their outstanding support of a wide variety of construction and renovation projects, many of which are funded by Measure E. Partridge is responsible for the implementation and administration of planning, construction, and maintenance of all college district facilities and Brown works directly with construction teams supervising all aspects of construction activities.

services, was recognized with the Chancellor’s Award for his exemplary service to the college district. While serving as the district’s chief personnel officer, Didion simultaneously served as interim president of Santa AnaCollege last year. Since joining RSCCD in 1997, his responsibilities have included labor negotiations, employee recruitment, selection, and discipline, fringe benefit administration, and risk management. Didion is also responsible for the district’s economic development programs, institutional research, and resource development activities.
