A.CTSTrainingProgram
TheCTSTrainingProgramisa6-monthprogramcomprisingapproximately 50hours ofdidacticlectureandinteractiveprogramming.Traineeswillparticipatein 2-hourclasssessions eachweekforsix months, beginninginJanuary 2018.Individualspursuingthis programwillbepreparedtoconductclinicalandtranslationalresearchresponsiblyandtorefinetheir career-longresearchfocusonclinicalandtranslationalscience. A certificatesignifyingsuccessfulcompletionisawardedat theendof theprogram. Nofeeischargedfor thisprogram;nostipendisprovided.
B.EligibleApplicants
TheCTSTrainingProgramisopento individualsat boththestudent andfaculty levels.Studentsmust beingraduate-level,degree-grantingprograms,professionalschoolsorpostdoctoraltrainingprograms. Facultyenrolleesmay beat anyacademiclevelfrom InstructortoProfessor.IndividualsmayapplyfromanyUABSchool; theUAmedicalprogramsatHuntsville,Tuscaloosa,MontgomeryandSelma;anyinstitutions ofthe UABCCTSPartnerNetwork; andtheMcWhorterSchoolofPharmacy atSamfordUniversity. WeurgeDepartmentChairsandDivisionDirectorsto assistinidentifyingandencouragingtraineeswithpotentialforanacademiccareerinclinicalandtranslationalresearch toapplytothisprogram.
C.ReviewandSelectionofApplicants
Eachapplicationwillbereviewedbya committeeconsistingofsenior investigatorsfrom theCCTSPartner Network.Tobeconsideredfortheprogram, applicantsmusthaveidentified amentorandaresearchprojector conceptforaproject tobe developedover thetimeframe ofthe program.
D.SuccessfulCompletionof the CTSTrainingProgram
Tosuccessfullycomplete theCTSTrainingProgram,eachtraineewillbeexpected toachievethefollowingmilestones:
1.Present a conceptforaresearchproject asacomponent ofthe application
2.Duringthecourse, prepareandpresentan abstractdescribingtheresearchconcept
3.Participateactively throughpreparation, discussionandattendance inclass(80% attendance at scheduled weekly sessionsrequired)
4.Attendone(1) meetingof theInstitutionalReviewBoardasscheduledbytheProgram

- a statementofsupportandfundingforprotectedtimetopermit the applicant to participate fully in the activities of the training program (specifically, program meetings from 8:00-10:00 every Wednesday morning from Jan. 3, 2018 to June 27, 2018)
- a listingofcurrent clinicalor translationalinvestigationalresearchprojectsinwhichtheapplicant isinvolved
