Buck On Operator

Job DutiesResponsibilities:

  • Setup and operate Buck On Unit.
  • Recognize and communicate any discrepancies or inconsistencies with Production Supervisor
  • Documentation of torque values of each connection processed
  • End drift and full length drifting of materials per API and/or customer specifications
  • Verification of materials to work orders
  • Measuring of coupling stand off with 12” scale
  • Create and apply stencil information on materials serviced
  • Maintain torque tolerances per API and/or customer specifications
  • Setup and operate a band saw
  • Safely and efficiently follow instruction given by the shop supervisor
  • Application of threading compounds
  • Reading and documentation of material lengths with a tally tape
  • Complete and submit all required process documentation in timely manner to supervisor.
  • Maintains a clean safe work environment
  • Meets agreed upon goals and objectives in a timely manner
  • Arrives to work, meetings, appointments, and other work-related functions on time and as scheduled
  • Train new hires or apprentices
  • Efficient at installing Couplings and protectors
  • Follows all safety policies and procedures
  • Understands and follows all aspects the company Quality Management System
  • Perform all jobs safely
  • Qualification:
  • Must have at least three months training or previous work experience in buck on operations and exhibit a comprehension of Buck on operations.
  • Must have the ability to communicate with service hands and QC inspector in reference to torque values
  • Must have the ability to read and comprehend work orders
  • Must have the capability of working with little or no supervision
  • Must have the ability to listen and follow work instructions
  • Should have a willingness to advance and train in other positions
  • Must be able to write, read, and speak English
  • Should have a minimum of 5 hrs training in the use of micrometers, calipers, scales, metric tally tape in addition to API specification requirements for which the job duties require.
  • Must be able to pass a Jaeger 2 levelvision test.
  • Authorities:
  • Has the authority to stop production of the Buck on operation if an unsafe situation or quality reduction of the process is observed.
