Safety Notes
1、Household Safety
(1)When you are away from home, remember to lock up the doors and windows, and turn on the security alarm system.
(2)When going for a vacation, you may apply to a police station or a precinct for “Away from home household patrol service.”After the application has been approved, police officers will reinforce the patrolling for the sake of citizens’ safety and convenience.
(3)When someone you don’t know is paying a visit, you should clarify the purpose of visit.
(4)Taking advantage of the “Neighborhood Watch ” organization to help each other and prevent burglary.
(5)When suspicious people or cars are around, you should call the police immediately and note down the vehicle plate numbers.
(6)Do not leave precious items home. They should be enlisted and stored in a bank safe deposit box or in different places.
2、Fire Safety
(1)Install fire prevention facilities and handy fire distinguisher(s) at home, and be familiar with its handling instruction.
(2)Turn off the gas and unnecessary electricity before going to bed or leaving home.
(3)Prepare and rehearse an emergency evacuation route, and pick a suitable meeting point for family members to gather when an incident occurs.
(4)When there is a fire occurred in a building, you should first help your family members escape, and call the police.
(5)Do not use nonconforming wires or lighting system, and be careful when using stove or heater.
(6)When entering a public area, you should pay attention to the emergency exits. When emergency situation occurs, avoid using an elevator in case of an electric power cut.
3、Personal Safety
(1)Taking a taxi
1.Do not take a taxi when the driver approaches you with unclear purpose.
2.Do not take a taxi without vehicle plates or when the plate numbers is not recognizable.
3.When the driver is apparently driving under influence, or is wearing sloppy clothes, do ask to get off the taxi immediately.
4.You may ask your friend to note down for you the name of the taxi company and the taxi’s vehicle plate numbers when taking a taxi.
5.When taking a taxi, you should note it down the vehicle plate number and the driver’s name in taxi registration card.
(2)Traveling
1.It is suggested to bring traveler’s checks with you, and keep your property in a safe place.
2.Do not stay in a hotel located in an unsafe area.
3.It is suggested to bring self-defense kit with you during travelling.
