ASSISTANT DIRECTOR

The Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) is an organization comprised of high school student-athletes, teacher-coaches, teachers, principals, and sport administrators all committed to the philosophy of “Education through school sport”. Our primary responsibility is to work with volunteer teacher-coaches to provide quality provincial championships for Ontario's student-athletes. We also play an important role in providing other programs and services that support coach education and school sport at the provincial and local levels.

Job Summary

The assistant director plays an integral role in the management of programs and services. Working closely with volunteer councils and committees, the assistant director ensures high- quality programs are developed and implemented that respond to the needs of students, teacher-coaches, schools, and our 18 athletic associations.

Principal Duties

Reporting to the executive director, the assistant director will:

·  Liaise with championship convenors in the management and execution of 17 boys’ championships and two co-ed championships.

·  Represent OFSAA at championship coaches’ meetings, banquets, medal ceremonies, and competitions.

·  Manage sport advisory committees, coaching committee, championship review committee and provide support, assistance, and advice to those committees.

·  Assist with the preparation of funding applications and reports.

·  Manage the ongoing administration and development of OFSAA’s online system for athlete registration and statistics collection.

·  Prepare annual participation statistics report regarding student participation in high school athletics.

·  Contribute articles and promotional materials for inclusion in the Bulletin magazine.

·  Develop annual plans and operation budgets for programs and projects.

·  Coordinate the development and delivery of the Coaching in Ontario Schools coach education program.

·  In conjunction with the executive director, recruit sponsors, negotiate sponsorship agreements, and ensure obligations to sponsors are met.

Qualifications

·  Degree or diploma in the field of Sport Management or Physical Education, or Bachelor of Education. New post-secondary graduates are welcome to apply; minimum of two years experience is preferred.

·  Proven ability to work with a variety of different personalities in a non-profit, volunteer setting.

·  Knowledge of the Ontario education and sport systems. A teaching background with experience in school sport is an asset.

·  Bilingual in English and French is an asset but not required.

·  Valid driver’s license.
