Brigadier General David E. Holman
Chief of Staff, South Dakota Air National Guard

Brigadier General David E. Holman is the chief of staff, Headquarters, South Dakota Air National Guard, Sioux Falls, South Dakota. As the chief of staff, he is directly responsible for the Headquarters element of the South Dakota Air National Guard.

General Holman earned his Bachelor of Science and Masters Degree in Civil Engineering from South Dakota State University in 1971 and 1972, respectively. He received his commission in 1971 and entered pilot training at Williams AFB in 1973 graduating in 1974. General Holman has served in various assignments to include KC-135 co-pilot and standards/evaluations co-pilot with the 920th Air Refueling Squadron; engineer and project manager with Environmental Protection Agency; and an associate with a local engineering firm. In addition, he served as Base Civil Engineer and Squadron Commander with the 114th Civil Engineer Squadron as well as serving as the Support Group Commander with the 114th Fighter Wing. As Squadron Commander, General Holman planned, coordinated and completed a Combat Information Transport System project at Osan AB, South Korea involving multiple units over a 10-week period of time. As Support Group Commander, he was involved in reengineering the Group and Expeditionary Combat Support tasking for Operation Southern Watch, Operation Northern Watch, Operation Noble Eagle, Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom and the recent Global War on Terrorism.
