Grading Guide

With guidance from your professional mentor, create at least two criteria for grading your product. Whenever possible, provide industry standards. Include enough information so that a person with no background in the topic can evaluate the product. Use precise & measurable criteria.

  • Precise — vague words such as “good” or “professional” require clarification. For example: “Paint professionally” requires more detail. You must describe what “professionally” should look like.
Revised: Paint with undetectable patching & prep work; two coats, even color, no splatters and crisp edges.
  • Measurable — (quantity, duration, size, level, etc)
for example: “Memorize & perform songs” needs measurement. Describe how many songs, level of difficulty and duration.
  • Revised: Memorize & perform three, intermediate level, two-minute, country-western songs.
