Title/Position: Dentist

Supervisor: Chief Medical Officer

Described Duties:

  1. Work cooperatively with Northwest Health Services’ providers and personnel to carry out the goals and objectives of Northwest Health Services, Inc., according to established policies and procedures
  2. Provide oral health assessment, diagnosis and treatment as clinically indicated. Ensure that his/her documentation in the oral health record justifies prescribed treatment and includes findings/progress, oral health orders and plan of care, in accordance with oral health record policies.
  3. Provide general dentistry care for indigent and low-income individuals without regard to ability to pay, race, color, origin or creed, according to Northwest Health Services’ policy.
  4. Make and document proper referrals for treatments that are not available at this facility. Maintain cooperative relationship with local dentists and tertiary care facilities to ensure continuity of care for those patients referred for care.
  5. Provide general supervision of registered dental hygienist.
  6. Assist in developing policy and procedures for dental clinic and to integrate with multi-disciplinary family health services.
  7. In conjunction with the Chief Medical Officer and Clinic Manager assist in the development, execution, and periodically review/update of clinical policies and procedures, ensure that protocols clearly reflect oral health standards of care.
  8. Participate in Provider staff activities to develop, execute and periodically review the clinical management policies and systems to ensure effective and efficient delivery of care.
  9. Inform staff of scheduled time away from duty, and any change in physician coverage.
  10. Participate in patient staffing/planning conferences, reviewing clinical assessments, patient progress reports, and reviewing and approving the patient's plan of care.
  11. Provide consultation, guidance and direction to dental support staff to ensure continuity and quality of services and care.
  12. Meet with the Board of Directors as needed to discuss dental goals and affairs.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  1. Education: Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from Missouri Dental Board.
  2. Licensure: Valid license to practice dentistry in the State of Missouri, Bureau of Dangerous Drugs license, and DEA license, CPR certified.
  3. Abilities: Insurable for professional liability.
  4. Current CPR certification.
  5. Credentialed as a consulting or active member of the
  6. Possess cognitive skills necessary to read and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral form.
  7. Possess light typing skills, computer knowledge helpful. Must demonstrate accuracy, proficiency, and efficiency. Must possess ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from patients, and other individuals encountered in the course of employment.
  8. Must be able to talk, hear, react, stand, kneel and lift.
  9. Must demonstrate tact, patience and good communications skills in dealing with patients and office staff.
  10. Must insure confidentiality of all patient records and accounts.
  11. Clean and neat appearance.
