Getting Ready for First Grade
Through stories, poems, songs, art, and writing, explore the worlds of reading. This class will offer a child-centered, meaningful, integrated language arts curriculum. The four areas of language arts – reading, writing, listening, and speaking – will be addressed as children engage in a variety of activities. Basic math skills will be reviewed.

This four-day class offers a curriculum designed to prepare students for kindergarten. It’s a World of Fun with Fairy Tales
This exciting class focuses on a variety of popular fairy tales. The across-curriculum activities will allow students to explore, create, and learn about fairy tales. Activities will include things such as creating a fairy tale, comparing/contrasting stories, using story maps, creating art, dramatizing specific tales, and allowing students to make connections to their own lives.

If you think that this is an area of your life that needs improvement, this program is for you. Learn ways to use your time more effectively. This class is designed for the 5th grader entering middle school, but any middle school student who wishes to learn to make better decisions about time management will benefit from this class.

This class is for the beginning piano student who wishes to learn to read music and play songs. Have fun learning to play the piano through music, games, and activities including music appreciation. *Students must purchase a $7.00 beginning music book from the teacher on the first day of class.

ScrapBooking 101
This is an introductory level class designed for children in grades 3rd – 8th who want to learn simple scrapbooking techniques to save and display their memories. Children will re-create sample pages and be given “free scrap” time to use the supplies and design their own pages. All materials will be provided including a scrapbook, so bring some pictures and be ready to have fun! There is a $15 materials fee for this class.

Puppetry*
Puppetry is an art form that has intrigued children and adults for thousands of years. Join the world of puppetry and learn to make marionettes, hand puppets, finger puppets, shadow puppets and more. Let your imagination soar as you learn and practice this exciting art form. Course objective is to familiarize students with techniques that make puppets a viable means to convey messages to both youth and adults. The goal is for students to understand the process involved in creating a puppet show from concept to performance.

Camp Invention is a nationally acclaimed, weeklong day experience filled with activities that foster creativity, teamwork, and inventive-thinking skills for children entering first through sixth grades. Campers will be grouped together depending on grade level and in some special cases parent request. Teachers this year are Heather Silva, Carin Lester, Brooke Dyrhaug, Judi Laten, Barb Geiges, and Donna Male. This year’s brand new curriculum will be:
SEAWORTHY – Launch an expedition to the deep seas to collect marine samples never before seen on dry land!
FAIR GAMES – Use your imagination to build your own interactive carnival activities.
THE LOST TREASURE – Locate the treasure on a faraway island. You must build a device to find it!
I CAN INVENT/TAKE APART – The campers’ favorite – year after year! Break stuff you always wanted to break!
AMAZING GAMES – Create new competitive games during the lunch period.
