Do me justice, O God, and fight my fight against a faithless people; rescue me from the wicked and the deceitful man. /

For you, O God, are my strength, Why do you keep me so far away? Why must I go about in mourning, with the enemy oppressing me / Send forth your light and your truth; they shall lead me on and bring me to your holy mountain, to your dwelling place. / I will go in to the altar of God, to God who gives joy to my youth; / I will praise you on the harp, O God, my God! Why are you cast down, O my soul? Why do you sigh within me? / Hope in God! For I shall again be praising him, My own savior and my God! / Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. / As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. The Chalice (cup) and Paten (plate) with the host on it have been on the altar from the beginning of the Mass. They are covered by a cloth. Also a Ciborium with extra hosts in it.

The priest, standing at the center of the altar and facing it, uncovers them and lifts the paten with the host (bread) on it and says in a quiet voice:

Receive, O holy Father, almighty and eternal God, this spotless host which I, your unworthy servant, offer to you, my living and true God, for my own countless sins, offences, and negligence; and for all present here, as well as for all faithful Christians both living and dead, that it may profit me and them as a means of reaching salvation in the eternal life. Amen.

The priest moves to the side of the altar where the servers present water and wine. The priest pours wine and a drop of water into the chalice. The priest moves back to the center of the altar and offers the wine, saying, in a quiet voice:

We offer you, O Lord, the chalice of salvation, humbly begging your mercy that it may arise before your divine majesty as a pleasing fragrance for our salvation and for that of the whole world. Amen.

The priest makes the Sign of the Cross over the bread and wine saying, in a quiet voice:

Come, O Sanctifier, almighty and eternal God and bless this sacrifice prepared for the glory of your holy name.

The priest moves to the right side of the altar where the servers present water for him to wash his hands.

He returns to the center of the altar and prays in a quiet voice:

Receive, O holy Trinity, this offering which we make in remembrance of the passion, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ, our Lord; and in honor of blessed Mary, ever Virgin, blessed John the Baptist, the holy apostles Peter and Paul, of these saints whose relics are on this altar and of all the saints; that it may add to their honor and aid our salvation; and may they be pleased to intercede in heaven for us who honor their memory here on earth, through the same Christ, our Lord. Amen.

The priest kisses the altar, turns to the people and says:
