Bell Ringer: Vocabulary 12
Activities:
Break down Don Juan, Canto II
· Discuss the literal and connotative meanings in the poem
· Define “ottava rima” and identify how it is used in the poem
· Identify rhetorical elements in the poem(similes, metaphors, allusions, irony, satire witty couplets, etc…)
· Identify tone and diction and find examples of each
· Discuss how does this poem fit the rationale for romanticism
· Answer comprehension questions about the selection
· Complete writing assignment about the poem (metacognition)

Bell Ringer: Voc. 12
Activity:
1. Give background into Percy Shelley’s personal life
2. Define “apostrophe”
3. Read Shelley’s Ozymandias
4. In pairs, analyze the poem using the rhetorical pyramid
5. Complete questions for this poem
Objectives:

Activities:
1. Read the biographical information about Keats. Discuss how the events in his life shaped his poetry.
2. Read and interpret the meaning of “On First Looking at Chapman’s Homer”
3. In pairs, complete a TPCASTT for the poem.
4. Identify qualities of an Italian sonnet from the poem

Bell Ringer: Spelling Test 12
Activities:
1. Quick Write: If you knew your time on earth was short, what would you most regret not being able to experience?
2. Read and analyze Keats’ “When I Have Fears”
3. Complete TPCASTT of the poem
4. Identify events from Keats’s background that lead to his writing the poem.
5. Watch selected scenes from Keats’ movie Bright Star (2009)
