HHS FAFSA Night
HHS will host a FAFSA Fast Five Financial Aid workshop! It is scheduled for Monday, February 4, from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., in the library. A representative from the NMEAF will be available to assist students and their parents with the FAFSA application. Parents/students are encouraged to bring: 2012 Federal Income Tax return, W-2 Forms, Social security number for students and parents, Current bank statements, and Alien registration card, if not a US citizen. Upon attendance and completion of the FAFSA, seniors will be entered in a drawing for a $500 grant.
HHS Course Fair
The Course Fair will be on Mon., Feb. 11, at 6:30 p.m., in the HHS cafeteria. Students and parents can meet with teachers and counselors and ask questions regarding courses for the fall semester.
Senior/Junior Enrollment
The HHS Guidance Office will begin enrolling juniors for their senior year and sophomores for their junior year beginning Wed. Feb. 13. The soph. students will be scheduled through their biology classes and juniors through their US history classes.
Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange (CBYX)
The US State Department funded Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange Program is for motivated high school students who want to fully immerse themselves in German culture by living with a host family and attending a local high school. URENCO USA Scholarship Opportunity
URENCO USA is offering 4 full ride scholarships to local students for the Energy Technology Degree Program at New Mexico Junior College. Applications must be postmarked on or before March 1, 2013. For more details, please visit http://www.urenco.com/content/202/scholarship-opportunities.aspx.
New Mexico Association of School Business Officials Scholarship (NMASBO)
NMASBO awards six to ten $1,500 scholarships to deserving New Mexico seniors across the state every year. In 2013 the scholarship committee will be selecting one applicant from the scholarship pool to receive the Third Annual Joni Heinsohn memorial scholarship for $2,500. This applicant must meet the same criteria in the guidelines and application. The applicant who demonstrates to the committee the most need and purpose for the memorial scholarship will be selected. URENCO USA Scholarship Opportunity

Finis Heidel Trust Scholarship
Heidel Scholarship applications are available in the HHS Guidance Office. Scholarships will be awarded to 2013 graduates of Lea County High Schools who meet all of the qualifying criteria as stipulated in the application. Only students who will attend New Mexico schools or universities or surrounding Texas schools that waive out-of-state tuition for all New Mexico students will be eligible to apply. Private schools are not included unless they are in New Mexico. The due date for this application is February 9, 2013.
New Mexico Junior College Foundation Scholarships

Albuquerque Community Scholarship
Information on Scholarships and Student Aid Programs for the Albuquerque Community Foundation is available at www.albuquerquefoundation.org/student_aid/. Each program has its own criteria and some are available state wide.
Rocky Mountain Water Environment Association
The RMWEA has established the Bill Martin and Tony Campman scholarships. These scholarships encourage students to pursue higher education in the water environment field at his/her college or university. For more information and an application, go to www.rmwea.org .

Senior to do list for February
· Be mindful of deadlines, especially financial aid. Always submit information on time.
· Research Advanced Placement (AP) or College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) exams.
· Watch for the e-mail notice indicating your Student Aid Report (SAR) is ready.
· Review your SAR for errors and make any corrections as indicated.
· Rank your top school choices.
