NCSD Annual APPR To Do List

This “To Do” list was created by the Network team to help you to successfully navigate your way through the APPR process.

SLO

  • With your administrator determine which courses will have an SLO
  • Create or Revise your Pre-Assessment
  • Pre & Post Assessment should be identical or as close as is practical
  • Pre & Post Assessment should be approved by the Network Team
  • Administer your Pre-Assessment
  • Student are entitled to all of the accommodations allotted to them according to their IEP or 504 plans
  • Score Pre-Assessments
  • Remember you cannot score your own
  • Your administrator must approve who will be scoring your Pre & Post Assessments
  • Enter the data on the APPR Spreadsheet on the Growth Score worksheet (see Tabs at the bottom)
  • You can export your class lists fromeSchool into the spreadsheet
  • We will provide instructions on how to do this
  • Write your SLO
  • Teachers with the same course or grade must have the same SLO
  • Make sure you use your baseline data to set rigorous targets
  • When all students are entered and all baseline data is entered, you need to sort the entire worksheet by baseline
  • Enter the targets on the APPR Spreadsheet on the Growth Score worksheet (see Tabs at the bottom)
  • SAVE to your Drive namedLast nameAPPR Spreadsheet 13-14
  • Upload the SLO, Spreadsheet, Pre-Assessment, Post-Assessment (Note if you are using a State Assessment, it will be named in your SLO and does not need to be uploaded.), and answer keys or rubrics to OASYS. Information to come
  • Name it Last NameAPPR Spreadsheet 13-14
  • If new students enter your class before April 1, they must be given the Pre-Assessment which in turn must be scored by the approved scorer
  • Add this student to the APPR Spreadsheet
  • Upload revised spreadsheet into OASYS
  • Be sure you label your spreadsheet revised with the date
  • Name it Last NameAPPR Spreadsheet 13-14 Revised MM.DD.YY
  • At the end of the year, administer your Post-Assessment
  • Student are entitled to all of the accommodations allotted to them according to their IEP or 504 plans
  • Remember you cannot score your own
  • Your administrator must approve who will be scoring your Pre & Post Assessments
  • Enter your Post-Assessment data on the APPR Spreadsheet (second Tab – Growth Score) that you saved on your drive
  • SAVE to your drive
  • Upload final Spreadsheet to OASYS
  • Name it Last NameAPPR Spreadsheet Final 13-14
  • All SLOs are due by November 1stand cannot be changed.
  • All students who enter your class before April 1 must be included in your SLO roster

Local 20

  • Create or revise a Local 20 assessment(s)
  • This can be the same assessment used for an SLO
  • The assessment must be approved by the Network Team
  • Administer the Local 20 assessment
  • Local 20 must include all of your students in your caseload. See accompanying Q & A.
  • Score the Local 20
  • Your administrator must approve who will be scoring your Local 20
  • All scores must be converted to a percentage
  • Enter the Local 20 data on the APPR Spreadsheet on the Local 20 worksheet (see Tabs at the bottom)
  • You can export your class lists from eSchool into the APPR spreadsheet
  • Instructions:

1. Open the APPR spreadsheet. If the banner on the top pops up and asks if you want to enable editing, press enable.

2. Save the spreadsheet under a different name and minimize it. Don’t close it.

3. Open eSchool. Go to the first class you want to enter. On the pull down gradebook menu, select “entry.”

4. Now the gradebook will display. This will not display if you have not yet entered grades.

5. On the top right corner of the gradebook is an “action”pull down menu. Pull down the menu and select “view averages”

6. A new screen should pop up with the option to export to excel. Select the export function.

7. Open the excel document. It may auto open.

8. Copy the cells desired

9. Paste the cells in the APPR growth spreadsheet

10. Repeat as necessary per class

  • When you receive your attendance data, enter that information on the APPR spreadsheet
  • SAVE on your drive
  • Upload final Spreadsheet to OASYS
  • Name it Last NameAPPR Spreadsheet Final 13-14
  • You can do one final Upload that includes your SLO and Local 20 data

Observations

  • Become familiar with OASYS and your NYSUT indicators
  • Suggestion: Tag all of your own artifacts such as lesson plan, pre-conference worksheets, etc.
  • Upload all artifacts related to your observations into OASYS
  • Name all documents clearly. Always use your Last name and Description of Item and Date
  • Examples: Callea Renaissance Lesson Plan 10.22.13; Wenzel DDI Analysis #1 11.15.13

Standard VI & VII

  • Throughout the year enter all evidence for Standard VI & VII indicators in OASYS
  • Keep all of your artifacts in OASYS

Data Driven Dialogues

  • Your building supervisor will set up a calendar for DDI conversations
  • Prior to each conversation, upload the appropriate data and analysis documents into OASYS
  • Name it Last Name DDI Data MM.DD.YY or Last Name DDI Analysis MM.DD.YY

Writing Tasks

  • Writing Tasks are required in all content areas except MS & HS Math, MS Encores, PE PK-8, and PK-2. In these areas writing is highly encouraged
  • The number of writing tasks is determined by your LINKS plan
  • Writing tasks must be approved by a Network Team Specialist (Dawn or Linda) even if you are giving the same task as last year
  • All writing tasks should be labeled with the appropriate Common Core Learning Standards for your subject and grade level

  • Submit Writing Tasks via email labeled Teacher Last Name Course Task #

  • Callea Global Task 2
  • Writing Tasks can be scored by you if they are not being used for APPR purposes
  • PK-2 will use the 6 + 1 Traits of Writing rubric
  • Grades 3-8 will use the NYS ELA Expository Writing rubric appropriate for your grade level
  • Grades 9-12 ELA will use the writing tasks in the Modules. Choose the appropriate rubric from the new ELA Common Core Regents exam
  • Grades 9-12 Content Areas will use the 6 + 1 Writing Traits Rubric
  • All Social Studies teachers grade 6-12 will use the SS Regents Rubrics
  • When in doubt, contact a Network Team Specialist for a decision (Dawn or Linda)
  • This data can be used for DDI conversations, and should be used to guide instruction in the Traits

Teacher Student Roster Verification – if applicable

  • At least 3 times/year you should check your Teacher Student Roster Verfication
  • You set up accounts over the past two years
  • Use the same logins and passwords that you used before
  • If you need help, use the help features on the web site. We do not own this web site and are unable to help you

TEACH Accounts

  • Periodically check your TEACH accounts. This is the state database that tracks certification.
  • All teachers have accounts. Check to be sure that the data is accurate
  • Your name should match the name in the TEACH account
  • If you have any questions regarding the information in this database, please see the Director of Human Resources.
