Presentation format

To do something a bit different from the talks you’ll be used to delivering, we have decided to do talks in the form of a PECHA KUCHA. For those who are unfamiliar, this is a fast-paced talk, where you will present 20 slides, spending 20 seconds on each slide before it changes.

The content you should include in your talk is as follows:
- Background/introduction, give context to introduce research topic and questions; aims and objectives
- Experimental methods to be used; description of method, and how the use of this method will hopefully allow you to address research aims and answer questions
- Very brief data, either preliminary data that has been obtained already or what we expect to be obtained soon, or example of previous data from the research group on similar project

As we would like the first meeting to focus on interactions and collaborations between groups, the emphasis should be on the methods being used by each of you, and the research questions you aim to address (as well as the theoretical context for this), with ideally only a couple of slides on any results you have obtained.

Each presentation will last just under 7 minutes, but we have allocated time slots of 15 minutes per presentation, as we would like to encourage as much discussion/questions as possible following each talk, as well as allowing for changeover.

Could you please all submit a PowerPoint presentation before the day to myself (Fiona Ramage: ) and Sian Jones (), consisting of 20 slides. Please look up instructions online for Pecha Kucha talks (it may also be helpful to watch some examples), and create a PowerPoint that automatically switches slides every 20 seconds!
