Directions to the York County Solid Waste Authority’s Education Center-Individual Vehicles
From I-83 South: Take Exit 24 (Emigsville). You will proceed on the off ramp to a traffic signal light. At the signal light, turn left onto Church Road. Take Church Road to the traffic signal light at the intersection of Church Road and North George Street and make a right onto North George Street.
Proceed on North George Street until you come to the traffic signal light at North George Street and Aberdeen Road. Make a rightonto Aberdeen Road and proceed to the stop sign at the intersection of Aberdeen Road and Sinking Springs Lane. Make a right onto Sinking Springs Lane and proceed to the stop sign at the intersection of Sinking Springs Lane and Locust Lane.
Proceed straight (Sinking Springs Ln. turns into E. Locust Ln. which turns into Grim Ln.) to the four-way stop at the intersection of Grim Lane and Woodland View Drive. At the four-way stop, proceed straight on Blackbridge Road (you will pass the York County Resource Recovery Center on your right) and proceed to Blackgum Court. Make a right onto Blackgum Court and proceed past Blackthorne Court (on your left). Proceed forward slowly toward the fence gate. Intercoms (one at car height, one at bus/truck height) are mounted on a post to your left that is surrounded by yellow bollards. Push the call button on the intercom and tell the attendant who answers that you are there for a tour.
Once the gate opens, proceed straight ahead and turn right at the sign with a right pointing arrow that reads “Visitor and Employee Parking”. Proceed on this road to the parking lot. For buses, there is a designated bus lane for parking. The entrance to the Education Center is located to the right of the designated handicapped parking area.
From I-83 North: Take Exit 22 (North George Street). Proceed on North George Street to Aberdeen Road and make a right onto Aberdeen Road. Proceed to the stop sign at the intersection of Aberdeen Road and Sinking Springs Lane. From Route 30:If traveling east on Route 30, turn left onto N. Sherman Street (if traveling west, turn right). Follow N. Sherman Street until it dead ends into Mundis Mill Road. Turn left onto Mundis Mill Road. Mundis Mill Road turns into Emig Road. Continue on Emig Road to E. Locust Lane. Make a left onto E. Locust Lane and proceed to the railroad crossing. At the railroad crossing, proceed across the tracks and make a left onto Locust Lane (Locust Lane turns into Grim Lane). Proceed on Grim Lane to the four-way stop at the intersection of Grim Lane and Woodland View Dr. Grim Lane turns into Blackbridge Road. At the four-way stop, proceed straight on Blackbridge Road (you will pass the York County Resource Recovery Center on your right) and proceed to Blackgum Court. Make a right onto Blackgum Court and proceed past Blackthorne Court (on your left). Proceed forward slowly toward the fence gate. Tour groups meet first at the Education Center and then proceed on the tour.
