-Thea: I will be there

Unfinished Business:

Overflow money

  • President (Michelle Fetter): I entertain a motion to open the floor for discussion on Overflow funds.
  • Gamma Phi Beta Delegate: so moved
  • Alpha Sigma Alpha Delegate: second
  • Alpha Sigma Alpha Delegate: How much money are we looking to spend down?
  • VP of CM (Thea Rief): About $3500
  • Alpha Chi Omega Delegate: I think we should look at spending the money on AFLV and Dance Marathon
  • Alpha Sigma Alpha Delegate: I move to vote to equally divide between Circle of Sisterhood, Dance Marathon and AFLV.

-Motion failed.

  • Sigma Sigma Sigma Delegate: I feel we should discuss specific amounts rather than just splitting it evenly.
  • Alpha Chi Omega Delegate: Can you explain What Circle of Sisterhood needs, like how much and what is in the budget?
  • VP of CS and P (Riley Devenport): My budget is $250 and that goes to cookies, and a prize for whoever wins the poster costs.
  • Gamma Phi Beta Delegate: Will this overflow happen again?
  • VP of CM (Thea Rief): This overflow happened because our recruitment numbers keep going up. We only budget for an average of the last 3 years. Recruitment numbers went up quite a bit in 2014 and have stayed up. So the next budget should be planning for higher numbers than before and they can create a budget that reflects this. So chances are there will not be this large amount of money to spend down unless recruitment numbers jump again.
  • VP of PR and M (Haley Severson): I went to UIFI and travel was pretty expensive, almost the same amount as the scholarship. Maybe we could spend some money on a full scholarship that includes travel?
  • VP of CM (Thea Rief): This doesn’t have to be money that we spend right now, we should just have a plan to spend it down even if it is over time.
  • Sigma Sigma Sigma Delegate: Is there something that we can invest in?
  • John: Diversity and outreach initiatives such as marketing. Every single council member to go to AFLV. Further subsidize that from $200 to $100. $1200 for AFLV would make it $100 for each council member and chapter. UIFI travel of $250. Long term: boost AFLV funding.
  • Gamma Phi Beta Delegate: We could do $500 for diversity and outreach, a full ride for UIFI, and the rest for AFLV.
  • John: $500 Diversity and Outreach, $1200 for AFLV, $400 for UIFI and if we want the $1200 for AFLV again next year.
  • Alpha Chi Omega Delegate: I was thinking of more of a Dance Marathon donation.
  • President (Michelle Fetter): The money would go to planning more so than just a donation.
  • VP of PR&M (Haley Severson): Maybe worry about this year for AFLV not next year
  • VP of CS&P (Riley Devenport): We are planning a $50,000 event on $3,000 for Dance Marathon
  • Alpha Sigma Alpha Delegate: I think we should worry about AFLV for this year.
  • Sigma Sigma Sigma Delegate: Shouldn’t IFC also support the Diversity and Outreach committee? Not just PHC.
  • VP of CM (Thea Rief): IFC doesn’t have the money to sponsor D&O like we do. I think we should give them a budget to work with because they are helping advance the whole community and it could really pay off.
  • Gamma Phi Beta Delegate: I move to vote. $1000 for Dance Marathon, $1200 for AFLV, and $500 for D&O
  • Motion Passed.
