National Logistics Managementcaptures honor for business growth, positive economic impact on inner city Detroit
Detroit-based company displays loyalty to urban roots, earns spot in the top 25 of honorees for the second year in a row
DETROIT – May 7, 2007 – National Logistics Management (NLM) continues to give the city of Detroit a competitive edge as one of the top inner city-based companies in the nation as ranked by Inc. Magazine and the Initiative for a Competitive Inner City (ICIC). This marks the second year in a row that the third-party logistics provider has been ranked on the Inc. Inner City 100 list, and the third year overall. NLM is ranked 22 on the 2007 list.
The award, chosen from more than 4,500 entrants, is a national listing of 100 of the fastest-growing companies located in America’s inner cities. The annual list celebrates entrepreneurship and business success, showcasing companies that are thriving in urban areas across the country and creating jobs, income, and wealth forinner city residents. Detroit was the city most represented on this year’s listing of companies. NLM’s inclusion is due to itscontinued growth and contributions to the community.
“Being included in the Inc. Inner City 100 for the third year is a great honor for NLM, as we take pride in both our excellence in performance and dedication to the community,” said Greg Humes, president of NLM. We are proud to represent Detroit in this group of companies that is increasing economic vitality and helping to create strong and diverse inner cities.”
NLM’s growth and success continues beyond numbers. The company, which manages dynamic and critical freight shipments using some of the industry’s most advanced technology, traditionallyspecializes in third-party logistics for automotive and manufacturing clients. It is now applying its expertise in freight management to new markets, including the pharmaceutical, healthcare and retail industries.
This growth is due largely to the flexibility of NLM’s AllWays On Command Center, where Logistics Specialists – available 24 hours a day, seven days a week – use Web-based technology to evaluate, analyze and optimize shipments to secure the best-priced, best-quality service for its customers.
The final company rankings for the Inc. Inner City 100 were announced May 3rd at the Inner City 100 awards dinner gala, the grand finale of the annual two-day Inner City 100 Summit in Boston. During the summit, a HarvardBusinessSchool case study highlighting NLM was presented to attendees.
