Beef packers, processors and exporters recognized

Certified Angus Beef ® brand honors quality, marketing leaders

WOOSTER, Ohio – Sept. 28, 2015 – Great-tasting beef continues to gather acclaim at dinner tables around the world, and the Certified Angus Beef ® brand recognizes the dedication of meat packers, processors and exporters for satisfying their tastes. The brand honored marketing and sales leaders Sept. 26 at its annual conference in San Antonio. Honorees also included ranching families, retailers, chefs and distributors, who are equally dedicated to bringing the best beef to the table.

“These companies satisfy growing demand for great-tasting beef by delivering both Certified Angus Beef ® brand products, and solutions to customers,” says John F. Stika, the beef brand’s president. “We’re proud to align with their focus and engage in the process that brings great-tasting beef from our family ranchers to consumers’ dinner tables.”

·  National Beef Packing Company, Kansas City, received the Fabricator Proficiency Award for the most pounds sold from each certified carcass. In its third year receiving the honor, National Beef focused on the brand across production and sales to make the most of each pound of beef certified. The company’s Dodge City, Kan., plant also achieved Top Sales Volume Fabricator.

·  Tyson Fresh Meats, Dakota Dunes, S.D., was named Packer Marketer of the Year. The company’s focus on the brand ranges from pursuing high-quality Angus cattle to increasing the pounds per head going into the Certified Angus Beef ® brand box. Tyson also hosted multiple plant tours for chefs, distributors and retail leaders.

·  JBS-USA, Greeley, Colo., was honored as the International Packer Marketer of the Year. Through leadership in Mexico and beyond, JBS worked closely with retailers on merchandising solutions and supported marketing strategies. These efforts added to the company’s 20-year success with the brand.

·  Golden West Food Group, Los Angeles, received accolades as the Value-added Products Marketer of the Year. The company introduced new Certified Angus Beef ® brand Natural and gourmet burgers, and promoted the brand on truck wraps and chef coats. Products are featured at retailer demonstrations, Annual Meat Conference and the IDDBA’s annual tradeshow.

·  Lower Foods, of Richmond, Utah, was honored for Commitment to Integrity. Lower Foods worked closely with the brand’s staff to ensure proper trademark use on products and took extra steps to ensure the highest level of product integrity. The company focused on growing partnerships with distributors and communicated openly on new product launches.

·  Wolverine Packing Company, Detroit – Top Sales Volume Ground Beef Processor

·  John Soules Foods, Tyler, Texas – Top Sales Volume Processor and Top Processor Sales Volume Increase

·  Quirch Foods Co., based in Miami – Top Sales Volume Exporter

Million Head Awards honored two packer locations for their long-term dedication to the brand. Tyson Fresh Meats-Lexington, Nebraska, achieved 3 million head certified for the brand since becoming licensed. Cargill Meat Solutions reached 1 million head certified in Friona, Texas.
