Four-year Plan of Courses
English Teaching major
Students need 128 credits for graduation, including 40 upper-division credits (numbered 300 or higher). Refer to the Undergraduate Catalog for complete degree requirements. This worksheet is based on the 2009–10 catalog; older catalogs might have slightly different requirements.
These tables provide one way—not the only way—to divide the courses required for this major into eight semesters over four years. This means that you average 16 credits per semester. Courses need not be taken in this exact sequence, but keep in mind that some courses are prerequisites for others. You may move some courses around to suit your schedule or your interests. These schedules do not include summer courses; courses taken in the summers reduce the number that must be taken in a fall or spring semester.
BSU has a program called Finish in Four that helps students complete degrees in four years. English Teaching is a not major eligible for the Finish in Four program, but you may still try to finish in four years. See the Finish in Four website (http://www.boisestate.edu/finish4/) for information. This document is not part of the Finish in Four program, but it shows how students can divide their coursework over four years, assuming needed courses are available.

Note: Students must apply in the early fall of their junior years to begin their education courses (aka, The Blocks) in the spring. See http://education.boisestate.edu/teachered/appinfo.htm for a link to the application and http://education.boisestate.edu/teachered/praxisi.htm to read about Praxis I. Allow eight weeks for Praxis I results to arrive.
Note: It is very important to take LING 305 in the junior year so you may complete a second LING course before student teaching.
