Issue 34 Week Ending 6th March 2015

I have seen some wonderful pieces of writing this week produced by our youngest learners. They are doing really well sounding out words and making careful spelling choices. We teach all the 44 letter sounds alongside letter names which helps our children spell more difficult words. To support us at home, it would be great if you also could use the letter names of the alphabet.

The photograph proofs are back from Mel Jones for the family photographs that were taken on Saturday morning. We will repeat this in the summer where you can look at his work and book a time at our summer fair. It was lovely to see so many families turn up.

Our boys football team yet again played magnificently in a football match against The Breck. They didn’t win but they performed brilliantly. I was very proud to be supporting from the sidelines. The help with transport and the support on the sidelines is also greatly appreciated. We are thrilled that our links with Fleetood Town are continuing where they are now planning to come in and take a lead with multi-sport activities with our older pupils every lunchtime.

Mr Jones is leading the trip to Winmarleigh this weekend. We hope the Year Fives have a wonderful time and look forward to hearing how they have got on.

Gentle Reminders:

We have had a lot of children brought into school late or collected early to attend dental appointments. Please endeavour to keep this to beyond a school day.

We have noticed an influx of trainers being worn in school and although have introduced our new uniform which is available to order from the school receptionI would like to remind everyone that our uniform does consist of grey trousers or skirt/pinafore, blue jumper or cardigan coupled with black school shoes. Carleton Green prides itself on being a welcoming school and visitors comment upon the warm feeling they get. So it is with a lttle reluctance that I broach the subject of our carpark. I am sorry but we cannot allow parents or visitors to use our grounds for parking as it is for the sole purpose of the adults that work here. However, we do have two allocated parking bays for those that have a disability. We do not require to see the blue disabled badge but we would like you to have sought permission prior to making use of our facilities.

Please remember that we operate a no smoking policy.
