The application form will refer to behavioural competency areas relevant to the role profile.

The evidence you provide:

  • Must be restricted to a maximum of 250 words for each competency area using Arial Font size 12.
  • It is recommended that to demonstrate competence, examples are provided together with the outcomes. When deciding which evidence you are going to provide, you are advised to refer to the Policing Professional Framework – Personal Qualities (PPF-PQ’s). Evidence recorded on your PDR can also be quoted and you may use any evidence you consider appropriate/relevant (i.e. from previous employment or personal activity)
  • The Attendance Management Policy applies in all selection processes. If an applicant’s Bradford Factor is an average of 192or more over the 3-years preceding the date of the advert, the applicant must submit a report with their application setting out the reasons why their application should be allowed to proceed. This report must be considered and supported by your line manager and an HR Consultant in order to progress prior to submission and before the closing date.
  • You must complete and submit your electronic application to your first line manager then on to your second line manager, before the application is returned electronically via email to Resourcing; the date specified in the advert. Your line managers may require you to meet with them to discuss whether they are intending to support or not support your application.

Any evidence provided which does not meet the above requirement will not be considered.

  1. competent and confident in handling and riding a variety of horses
  2. established equitation skills (horse riding and handling) at a minimum standard which equates to the NPCC Mounted Police Intermediate Equitation Certificate and/ or the British Horse Society (BHS) level 3 riding certificate, which includes but is not limited to the following criteria;

-the ability to maintain a secure and effective position in the saddle at walk, trot and canter with and without stirrups

-the ability to ride a course of 2’6” show jumps safely and securely

-the ability to ride on the public highway, in open countryside and amongst pedestrians safely, effectively and with confidence
