Christianity Explored / Have you ever wondered why much of the world describes time (BC and AD) according to when one man was born? Have you ever thought it odd that so many millions of people in the world celebrate the birth of one, particular baby, every year, at Christmas? Have you ever stopped to consider why a man, who lived 2000 years ago, in a remote village in Palestine, who never wrote a book, never travelled outside his home country, and was executed in a barbaric fashion before he was 35, still has such a huge impact on our society today?
If you'd like to learn more about this extraordinary man, come to Christianity Explored. Tuesday lunchtimes in A6 (DGS). Everyone is welcome. And you may just learn some answers to these questions! / Miss Vassiliou

DGS Thought for the Month / Thought for the Month
Being Thankful & Showing Gratitude
"If you don’t appreciate what you have, you may as well not have it. When you count your blessings, you can generate your most positive feelings."
Rosalene Glickman, Ph.D., Best-selling author of Optimal Thinking
I spent the Christmas holidays enjoying myselfcatching up with family and friends, sharing presents and eating too many roast potatoes. I had a wonderful holiday and had a lot of people to thank. I thanked my family for their gifts and cooking a great Christmas lunch and my friends for their presents and hospitality.
I took time to reflect on all that I have to be thankful for. This year I can be thankful for kind friends and family, good health and a vibrant and exciting place to work (DGS!)
What do you have to be thankful for? Take some time today to stop and think about all the things you are thankful for in your life.
Now that you have thought about what you are thankful for, how are you going to express your gratitude? Everyone likes to be appreciated!
Ways to show gratitude
  • Send a letter /postcard
  • Expressing it verbally – saying thank you
  • Keep a gratitude journal
  • Send an email or text
  • Smile!
“Make it a habit to tell people thank you. To express your appreciation, sincerely and without the expectation of anything in return. Truly appreciate those around you, and you’ll soon find many others around you. Truly appreciate life, and you’ll find that you have more of it.”
Ralph Marston
