Team Manager Role Description

REPORTS TO: Club Hampshire Director of Rugby (DOR)

KEY RELATIONSHIPS: Coaches & Medical staff, Parents, Club and School Coaches, Referees, Selectors, Other County Managers, DOR

NATURE & SCOPE OF JOB:

Lead the relevant Age Grade Delivery Team, comprising of the Assistant Manager, (where necessary) Coaching Staff, Selectors, Medical Staff to achieve the objectives of the Age Grade programme within Club Hampshire.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.  Ensure Club Hampshire's objectives for the Age Grade squad are achieved at County level by providing a development programme for players, managers, coaches and selectors.

2.  Manage the delivery of the Club Hampshire Age Grade selection process within the budget provided and in line with the policies laid down and supply reports for and attend Club Hampshire Meetings.

3.  Manage the delivery of the Age Grade Team and playing programme including match preparation, travel, in loco parentis cover, playing facilities and equipment, playing kit, medical support, insurance and media liaison, ensuring and keeping recorded, that all coaching/physio staff have current enhanced CRB Clearance.

4.  Ensure that the coaching and playing squad present themselves as ambassadors for Club Hampshire and act within accordance of the Core Values of the sport.

5.  Facilitate an annual review of the programme and appraisal of staff providing a report to the DOR.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND QUALITIES

·  Self motivated, committed, enthusiastic to player development and rugby union.

§  Is able to lead & manage people and create a positive working environment for players management and volunteers.

§  Punctual, reliable and personally well organised.

§  Ability to communicate with a range of people.

§  Management experience of rugby teams at Club or School levels.

§  Commitment to the RFU’s “aspirational” player programme (pathway).

§  Sets high standards of personal accountability and responsibility for the players and management team.

§  Ideally hold RFU / UKCC Level 2 Coaching Qualification or its recognised equivalent.

§  Hold Current Enhanced CRB Clearance.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

The post holder is accountable to the DOR for the successful delivery of the responsibilities as outlined above. The post holder may delegate to the management team, as necessary, any task whilst retaining accountability and responsibility.

The term for the position is 2 years (renewable) subject to annual review
